CNN: Exit polls: Big win for Koizumi
Exit polls: Big win for Koizumi
Sunday, September 11, 2005; Posted: 7:51 a.m. EDT

TOKYO, Japan (CNN) -- Exit polls indicate an overwhelming victory for Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, according to Japanese media.

Every media outlet projects more than 300 seats in the Japanese parliament for LDP -- the party needs more than 241 for a majority. Polls closed at 8 p.m. (1100 GMT) on Sunday.

Before Koizumi dissolved parliament last month, LDP had 249 seats. Its coalition partner, New Komeito, had 34 seats and the opposition Democratic Party of Japan had 175 seats.

Koizumi had promised to resign if his party lost.

Voter turnout jumped compared with the last elections in 2003, The Associated Press reports....

1. I thought we all agreed that exit polls were unscientific
and unAmerican? Diebold will have something to say about this!

2. Well, that means Koizumi is toast.
Or do they use Diebold in Japan?

3. What's funny is that over on freerepublic.com...
they're all having exit poll orgy's about this thing in Japan. It's "exit poll" this and "exit poll" that, over there.

So let's see...exit polls over here don't mean shit, but over in Japan there a good indication of the election results. :wtf:
