Tyco Trial Jurors See Video of $2M Party
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/tyco_trial

NEW YORK - Jurors saw a videotape Tuesday of dancing women, half-naked male models and "Margaritaville" singer Jimmy Buffett ($250,000) at a $2 million party that L. Dennis Kozlowski, former CEO of Tyco International, threw for his wife's birthday on a Mediterranean island.

"It's going to be a fun week," the tape shows Kozlowski telling about 75 guests arriving to celebrate Karen Mayo's 40th birthday on the Italian island of Sardinia on June 11, 2001. "Eating, drinking, whatever. All the things we're best known for."

The jurors saw 21 minutes of what had been a four-hour videotape. ...The portions removed include shots of an anatomically correct ice sculpture of Michelangelo's "David" urinating vodka, two men dressed as ancient Romans carrying Kozlowski's wife over their heads, and a scene in which a man drops his pants for the camera.

Outside court, Kozlowski smiled and said, "Wasn't that tape boring?"

Prosecutors say the two stole $170 million from Tyco by taking and hiding unauthorized pay and bonuses, raiding company loan programs and forgiving loans to themselves. They say the defendants made another $430 million on their Tyco stock by lying about the conglomerate's financial condition from 1995 into 2002.

3. The tape was boring.
As was the party (from what I saw of the truncated video). This Kozlowski guy should be arrested for throwing lousy parties. To squander $2 million on that snooze-fest is a crime.

4. Bring back the guillotine
If there was ever a case for justifying the return of the guillotine, this it the one. Watching this ugly fat bastard and his trophy wife and their sorry ass attempt at dancing is enough to make you retch. Diddling while Tyco burned.

7. Normal people should have more glimpses like this.
These are the folks getting the tax cuts. How can Joe Sixpack be duped into supporting a cabal that panders to people like this?

8. No wonder he got busted, he didn't even know how to throw a party
Probably lacked real shopping skills also. Hell, if I were this slum dweller I would at least upgraded to some real musicians, maybe a little Aerosmith. I could not imagine trying to impress these lowly millionaires with cheap ice tricks and sauced up parrots. Hell most people know you can't sizzle in a good shindig for less than eight or nine mill anyway

Insanity as Normalcy

The way in which the Bush junta is conducting itself is an interesting brainwashing technique in itself: Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld, and the others continually commit OUTRAGES but don't excuse them, explain them, or invite reflection on these affronts to morality and sanity. In fact, when some timid media voice criticizes the Bush junta, the person is demonized as questioning behavior which is beyond reproach.

Americans are being brainwashed to ask only the questions the Bushites allow and they are programmed to see everything the Bush junta does as unquestionably correct. The brainwashing has gone so far that Americans no longer see what has happened to our country

9. Party tape was chopped by Defense team
Edited on Wed Oct-29-03 12:27 PM by Greyskye
According to an NPR report last night, the Defense managed to get the tape shown deliberately edited down to show the most boring parts possible. This was a deliberate move to play down any of the extravagent parts. The tape shown was only about 20 boring minutes out of a 4 hour party. They shouldn't even have shown it, if they couldn't see the whole thing. :puke:

10. What's comical about the tape -
four hour videotape.

Concerns that chunks are objectionable, and not "related to the case". Of course, the defence wants the parts removed where Kozlowski says things like "Boy, we're really f-----g with those investors, eh?"

What is deemed viewable (not obscene or tasteless) - 21 minutes left of video.

Trust me, this is probably going to become the next Pamela/Tommy Lee internet tape.
