9. I read somewhere...
That Microsoft actually uses Linux internally on some of it's systems, because of better reliablity. I don't have a link, but I swear I read that.

10. Oh, c'mon, guys
They just want to finally have something that works right.

You know, I don't have any links, but I've read several things about how google captures all your searches, etc. Does anyone know about this? There's even a "google alternative" out there somewhere with a lot of info about google's subterranean nastiness.

13. Google
Yeah google captures your info to a certain degree. But, If you have the advanced tool bar, they literally track everything. They in turn use this info to enhance their search engine. Get used to it, everything you do on the internet is being logged to a certain degree somewhere by somebody. The only way to ensure absolute privacy on the internet is to not use the internet. But then we wouldn't be having this lovely conversation.

. . . from ur gas purchases on credit cards, to our debit cards,

. . they know where we are and what our habits are

- people who use debit cards in a beer store are NUTS !!

- do we want the government and employers to know our habits ?

- that's why I use cash everywhere

15. Hmm. I wonder how that might tie in, or compete with, this
http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/7113854.htm

Google appears poised to go public
FIRST OFFERING OF STOCK FOR MOUNTAIN VIEW SEARCH-ENGINE

Google appears to be gearing up for its much-awaited initial public offering, with signs pointing to the stock sale occurring in the first half of next year.

The buzz about a possible Google offering has mounted over the past few months, as investors look to the company as a sign of hope amid a dour market for tech IPOs. Some people believe a successful Google IPO would reignite the market for technology stock offerings.

<snip>

Google doesn't need the cash from an IPO for basic operations. Its business is vibrant. The Web's most popular search engine gets a steady stream of income from selling advertisements that run alongside its search results. Analysts believe Google's revenue could total $1 billion over the next 12 months.

MS making an offer sounds like a floater idea to me personally; that is, MS wants to (maybe emboldened by Oracle's overtures to PeopleSoft) but Google didn't go after them.

Who makes the best linux, I am ready to switch

I alternate between Copernic and Google mostly use Copernic though, they have a free version, but the personal version I paid for and worth every penney. Google is just faster because it doesn't sort for most relevent or highly accessed..............
