If history isn't preserved, how will future generations ever know ?
Someone should raise funds to have it converted into a museum, and quick !

That's why they keep flying that damned rebel battle flag: To remind us of how far we've come, but how far we still have to go.

:-(
It doesn't have to be an eatery anymore. Doesn't somebody want to take it on as a museum?
Or couldn't the university move it to some other locale? I mean, they've already blown $500,000/year keeping it open. Surely it won't cost that much to move it.
Seems shortsighted to me.

4. If the restaurant was the site of a famous demonstrationm or sit-in |
|
I would understand. A meeting place seems lame as a historic site.

7. If it is worth saving someone should come up with the cash |
|
I do not think the university, which is 7.5 mill per year in the red, should be burdened with a 500k money pit so people who care but won't pony up the cash can feel good about themselves. This was a meeting place on the 60's. Folks have had 40 years to make it into a shrine. Nobody tried to outbid the university in 1996 (I think that year is correct). Where are the people putting their money where their mouth is.
