Hitler-Themed Sugar Draws Ire of Jewish Rights Group
Feb. 20, 2007 — An international Jewish rights group has asked the Croatian government to launch an immediate investigation into a company that is distributing sugar packets emblazoned with images of Adolf Hitler and anti-Semitic jokes.

The sugar packets, distributed by a small Croatian company called Pinki, have been sold in at least two Croatian cities for several months and received attention from a Croatian newspaper.

Now the Simon Wiesenthal center in Jerusalem, a Jewish human rights organization, has demanded that Croatian authorities prevent the company from producing or distributing any more of the controversial packets.

"We are outraged by this; it insults the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, their families and any person of moral integrity," said Efraim Zuroff, director of the Wiesenthal Center.

2. Wrong. They know. They just happen to agree that Jews should all die.
Anti-Semitism IS on the rise.

From the Right, from the Left... In fact, it's something both sides can agree on, it seems.

Jews are responsible for the whole mess. From the death of Jesus to the rise of Islamic extremism.

Nice to have a scapegoat. People are naive if they think that thousands of years of Jew-hating just dissappears because we now think we're modern and beyond it. We're about as modern as Rome with the colliseum and the gladatiors.

27. Nope. The head of the cabal's Artificial Sweetener Division is Donald Rumsfeld.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Rumsfeld#Private_career

From 1977 to 1985 Rumsfeld served as Chief Executive Officer, President, and then Chairman of G.D. Searle & Company, a worldwide pharmaceutical company based in Skokie, Illinois, whose products included, among others, Metamucil, Dramamine, and the oral contraceptive pill Enovid. During his tenure at Searle, Rumsfeld led the company's financial turnaround that in turn earned him awards as the Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Wall Street Transcript (1980) and Financial World (1981). Rumsfeld is believed to have earned around $12 million from Searle's sale to Monsanto.

It was under Rumsfeld that Searle got the Food and Drug Administration's approval for the controversial artificial sweetener, aspartame, which it marketed as NutraSweet.

4. Hitler-Themed Sugar!!! WTF!?!
<http://www.adnki.com/index_2Level_English.php?cat=Politics&loid=8.0.387619524&par=0>

...Pinki owner Anita Ivanecic remained tight-lipped about the row. "You can write whatever you want, but I won’t comment anything," she said. Holocaust denial is not a crime in Croatia, unlike a dozen European countries including Austria. There was no immediate response from the authorities, but Zuroff said that the existing law against ethnic, religious and racial intolerance should be applied....

This is so fucked up.

Between this and the Ukrainian graves being vandalized, it seems like Eastern Europe has hardly changed over the last sixty years.

20. No shit!
I happened to get a Donald Duck DVD of cartoons from 1940-1941 for my kids and there was some disturbingly racist imagery there. On cartoons! Disney really sucked back in the day.

i mean, it just begs the question "why!?" are neo-nazi skinheads some sort of mega market for coffee and tea? is this like the ultimate "a spoonful of sugar..." sick parody? it's like i live in bizarro world where not only this could be thought up, but also created, manufactured, and put to market. reality is so much more stranger than fiction...

14. It seems a lot of poster "don't get it" either.
Anti-semitism has been thriving in Europe for at least 1,000 years. It was never going to disappear. It stays underground for short periods of time, like a virus, then reappears whenever conditions are right.

Maybe this perspective might help to explain why Jews feel so strongly about Israel and "never again!".

16. You nailed it.
It is, once again, a growing problem - not only in Europe but here in the U.S. as well.

If one does not ignore history, Jews will always, ALWAYS need a place to go.

18. I remember when sugar packets had historical notes on them
Or pictures of different landscapes, like water falls and mountains and stuff.

Nothing like that out of Eastern Europe/the Balkans surprises me. My great-grandmother converted to catholicism when she moved to Austria, after having been raised jewish in Slovenia. This was 25 years before Hitler.
