Iran ready to strike US 'anywhere' if attacked - diplomat
02.27.07, 7:20 AM ET

MOSCOW (AFX) - Iran is ready to strike back against the United States 'anywhere' if attacked, Iranian ambassador to Russia Gholamreza Ansari was quoted as saying Tuesday.

He added, however, that Teheran was ready to consider direct talks with Washington on Iran's nuclear programme, Interfax news agency reported.

'If the Americans do something foolish and attack Iran, I am sure that the Iranian people will give a very instructive lesson,' Ansari said, speaking at a conference in Moscow devoted to the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

'We will be able to give a worthy, adequate response, and I don't doubt that Iran would make such a response immediately after the attack. We also do not limit the territory for such a response -- it could be anywhere,' Ansari said.

1. It's due, everybody knows it is coming. These bastards are
biting off more than they can chew. And in their bloody greedy arrogance they think that the people of Iran will be supportive of any strikes against their country. Just like someplace else I can think of.

2. Again I say....if you're an Iranian how awful it must be to know you're considered a
"target" by this rogue nation we've become.

They've tried threats, they've tried the cure for AIDS, they've begged for diplomacy,,,,

5. Well, I need to google a couple of things, but the jist of the last few attempts at outreach by Iran
would be these:

Claiming to have a cure for AIDS. It was a quick story here, but found here, as well as other places..http://www.upi.com/NewsTrack/Science/20060906-065147-6616r/

Threatening? The OP.

And, begging for diplomacy...http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/05/23/AR2006052301540_pf.html

Happy to explain. I wish more would ask of each other. :toast:

7. Thx.
I don't believe for a second they have made any progress in curing aids. Do you. They are not exactly the most progressive society. Just look at what they do to gays for example. Yes they have been making all sorts of threats which don't really serve any purpose other than to support the case for not allowing them to have nukes, ever.

I don't see them exactly begging for diplomacy either You can't make threats and beg for diplomacy at the same time. They in fact don't need to beg for diplomacy, just give up their nuke program and cease making threats against other countries would probably take care of their problems with the international community.

I don't want any country who holds "world without Zionism" conferences where they welcome the likes of David Duke and make speeches calling for the destruction of the jews to have a Nuke. I would prefer they give up the idea without a war. They seem to be doing everything the can to raise the stakes and force a confrontation over the issue. If it is a choice between them getting these kinds of weapons or a war now before they get them I cannot say we would be better off letting them have the weapons.

Saddam and the Iraqis national slogan was not "death to America". I did not see the point in a war with Iraq. I cannot remember a time that I have nt seen pictures of people in Iran burning American and Israeli flags and chanting "death to" whoever. This is not a society that needs to have nuclear weapons, period.

9. Hollow posturing
That line was just testosterone laden BS playing to the home audience in Iran.

All this chest thumping the administration is doing is just helping prop up these idiots. I think if we backed off, the Iranian people would take care of these nutjobs just fine by themselves. Without an external enemy to rally against, what does their government have to keep itself together?
