CNN: Bush Says Slavery Helped Free America
Edited on Tue Jul-08-03 12:54 PM by zls44
-snip-

"The stolen sons and daughters of Africa helped to awaken the conscience of America," Bush said. "The very people traded into slavery helped to set America free."

See...it LOOKS bad, but WE NEEDED SLAVERY! WITHOUT IT WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FREED! SLAVERY WAS REALLY A SMART MIGRATION!

11. Actually, killing Jews 'awakened Germany's conscience'
Did someone write this for him (scary), or did he just shoot off his idiot mouth again?

12. And the good thing about racial profiling it that it taught
us that racial profiling is bad. Except of course when its used for anti-terrorism

2. Yikes!
You mean there was a time when America had even less of a conscience than it has today? I didn't think Americans could be more apathetic and self-involved than they are in 2003. Wow.

5. Only way he's right
If HE were imprisoned then America would be set free.

Otherwise, he's a freakin moron.

Remember kids...this is the man who asked the President of Brazil if there were any black people in his country.

13. They just can't let Chimpy out of his cage for a minute!

Neocon handlers figured--"Aw let him go to Africa, how bad can he mess
up". Chimpy simply has no dialogue between his brain and
his mouth--none. Coupled with a disabling lack of vocabulary--jeez,
hope we never elect another one of those. It's embarrassing! Maybe
when Poodle has some downtime, he can help * with his Syntax!

14. Uhhh, actually I agree
The Civil Rights movement was what brought about the second American revolution in the sixties that continued through the seventies in the feminist and ecological movements.

There is no way that this is what Dumbya thought he was saying but it is quite true. The Africans in the US helped to push back the weird slide into One-Dimensional Man -type of fascism that was ascendent in the post-war US. Africa's sons and daughters and the LIBERAL and neccessarily RADICAL people who supported them started the struggle to complete the American revolution.
