Bush to ask for $70 billion in partial 2009 war funding
Source: reuters

The Bush administration will ask Congress next week for $70 billion to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and other related operations for part of the 2009 fiscal year, the Pentagon said on Monday.

"We'll send up the fiscal year '09 budget (next Monday)," Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said. "It will have a request for an emergency allowance to support activities related to the global war on terror into 2009 ... in the amount of 70 billion."

The funding would be in addition to the administration's request for the regular Pentagon budget which is to be presented next week.

Since the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, Congress has approved $691 billion to pay for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and such related activities as Iraq reconstruction, the Congressional Budget Office said last week.

and 40,000,000 shares of stock, which I can sell at any time.

These bastards are doing it in increments. Do they always do this?

I guess $280,000,000,000.00 might look like too much to some people. Monkeyboy administration to ask congrass for 2.8 E11 or 2.8 x 10^11 to fund BS wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This way the morans won't be able to make sense of the zeros involved.

2. Oh, yeah, just shovel it over there...
...and into the pockets of specially chosen Bush Cartel war profiteer 'charities.'

And "not enough votes" in Congress to do anything about it.

Thanks, Diebold! (...ahem, 'Premier.') (Forget you ever heard that word...Diebold...reprogram...it's now 'Premier," that is, the FIRST in election theft...or...the grand opening of the new movie: "Dead Iraqi Babies.")

(The BushWorld Premier.)

against it - I only know of a few, very few congresscritters who are truly against * war - this is not our war it is this admin and the republicans and every time a democrat votes for funding - they are voting to continue this mess

6. "Congress has approved $691 billion to pay for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan" . . .
that's only the official, approved money that Congress knows about . . . you can bet there's billions more of CIA and "black ops" money and, very likely, from a whole bunch of overtime by press operators at the U.S. mint . . .

7. Wow
Wow those numbers are very upsetting. It sucks to know that
so much of our tax dollars and our soldiers are being wasted
for such a worthless cause. Also on top of that we are helping
Iraq's people when 1 out of every 7 American do not have
health insurance.

9. Yeah, except...
Yeah, except we are NOT helping Iraq's people. They have no electricity, no infrastructure, no protection, etc.

Make no mistake, this administration hates poor Iraqis almost as much as it hates poor Americans.

14. When are the people going to start challenging this waste?
In my opinion this will not bode well for those serving in the military.

At what point will they receive the same response as those serving during Vietnam?

Soon you will be able to burn bricks of cash, as they will be cheaper than wood.
