Bush defends his national security policy (defends the "Bush Doctrine")
Source: AP

President George W. Bush says the U.S. has taken the fight against terrorists worldwide.

The president spoke Tuesday to cadets at the U.S. Military Academy. Bush gave a full-throated defense of his policy, known as the Bush Doctrine, of pre-emptive military action.

He said after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the country resolved that it would not be attacked again and would go on offense.

Bush said the U.S. saw the urgency of staying a step ahead of our enemies.

It was at West Point on June 1, 2002, that Bush evoked the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and Gen. George C. Marshall's words about the United States as a symbol of freedom and power as he described a new, robust military policy.

1. Well, he's ALMOST right--it's more like "The Bush/Cheney cabal has
taken terrorism worldwide."

2. why is this puerile dogma still accepted as legitimate?
Edited on Tue Dec-09-08 12:27 PM by ixion
Bush has destroyed our international standing for generations to come, and looted the treasury under the same guise. This cabal has launched full-scale illegal invasions of sovereign nations using bogus intelligence as a rationale. They have consistently shown complete disregard and disrespect for the rule of law, the Constitution and Bill of Right, not to mention the entire US populace.

The are responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of human beings with our tax dollars, and in our name.

Their "energy policy" was to game the system in favor of Big Energy.

Their "fiscal policy" tripled the national debt.

Airports now resemble concentration camps.

Our phones are being tapped 24/7, as is our email, chat messages, web sites visited, etc.

We're facing the largest financial meltdown since the Great Depression.

We torture.

The Bush cabal has eliminated or emasculated both Habeus Corpus and Posse Comitatus.

Such is the "Bush Doctrine" in a nutshell.

4. You should send that concise
list to the * legacy fabrication team. They should really be working from a basic beginner's list such as yours.

Reviewing the list - there is a lifetime plus of work.....Who is paying hughes & saurove's salary to put give substance to the * house of smoke & mirrors?

5. Why?
Why? Because Madame Speaker decided we would not have an impeachment, even an attempt at impeachment, which might have restored our honor.

We are a shameful nation, Madame Speaker, and are a shameful nation in great part because of you. You will no doubt burn in Hell along with the Bushes. Who you seem to serve rather than the American people. Along with those who felt power was more important than principle.

The Democrats have taken back Congress and the White House. And absolutely nothing will change.

18. I agree with every word you said UP TO the last sentence. As for the
future, I still hold out hope. I hope that I get a big surprise and the powers-that-be meant it when they said that they wanted to right the crimes and sins of this administration. I hope, I hope, I hope.

3. My take on Bush..............
...........trying to get the propaganda out earlie on his 'splendid' legacy.

It makes me think of a little boy, whistling on the dark to fend off the tigers and bears in the woods with him.

Nice touch that the biggest text book publishing for the nations school systems is in Texas. So it might be a good thing to keep an eye on future history books, in your kids schools.

6. Pre-emptive war? Even that is bs. No one has yet shown that Saddam was going to attack us. The
real name for choosing an unprovoked invasion of a country is international crime . Yeah, I guess "Bush Doctrine" fits.

24. You forgot to add the
"Charlie" to the quote. Must not forget "Charlie!"

Strange.....I always liked Charlie Gibson--thought he was a good guy. It makes it nice that he was the one to stop Sarah the Wonder Kewpie in her uninformed tracks.

20. No one is listening...
Just for the record 99.999999% of the calls that are monitored are from someone outside of the country to someone outside the country. The US just owns most of the networks that these calls go through. So don't get too paranoid, there isn't anyone listening in on your daily conversations.
