as of 11:33a Tuesday - no link yet, will scour the MSRNC site for details and update.

Wondered how long this planned atrocity would last...

1. LMAO
I liked what Dorgan said yesterday, he was having a hard time convencing people it wasn't a hoax.

10. I agree
It is sick as hell, but it is not without precedent though. Now faded into the dim recesses of the major news media's attention span, someone did indeed place a bet on a future terrorist attack. Prior to September 11th someone already was in the terror "future's game." They were placing their bets regarding the stock of certain US airlines. The bets were made on the premise that
the stock would fall precipitously the week of September 11th and their bets paid off handsomely after the barbaric butchery of thousands of people. So Someone obviously got a hot tip didn't they? From whom and from where?
That is the million dollar question we should ponder after hearing this latest travesty.

17. The GUT talk boards batted around the hoax issue for a LONG time
One post after another..... Whaaaatt?? Nagh! No way in hell! Not even possible for the American Radical Right to come up with this! Forget it, no one would come up with something like that.

Interspersed with people saying.....yes, it's true...here's the link...but maybe someone hacked into yahoo or something.

Around and about.

it is THE most unbelievable thing on earth.

And I think we need to demand Congress investigate WHO exactly was involved in it and force them out of the Pentagon on the grounds that they are certifiably INSANE. (And this has Rummy's whacky satanic thumbprints all over it).

32. after the bush* bloody bloated human head trophy display...
anything can be expected out of this brutal cabal of THUGS...

whatever gets out onto the internet is just a tiny window in the REAL BIG STUFF that is going on inside the pentagoon right now...

I'm sure they thought that web site was just tons of fun...these guys are KILLERS and they have no conscience...they sit around thinking everyday about how to make better clusterbombs, shock-and-awes, nuclear weapons to vaporize cities, chemical weapons to eat the skin off of victims and torment them for days before death, biotoxins that make you wish you were dead sooner or beg to be shot

this is what we pay for...so we should not expect anything else...we are paying most of our taxes for death and destruction...for torture and killings to make corporate profits...

6. Or it was a huge distraction
what did we miss folks? what got ignored? I wouldn't put anything past them anymore. Although i think they are becoming deluded enough to not only think this was a good idea, but that they could get away with it.

15. what might have got missed. . . . .
. . . was the Fisk report of U.S. atrocities in Baghdad.

I don't watch tv and don't have access to broadcast news on my computer at work, but the NYT, LATimes, WP, etc., had nothing on their front page websites to report on what went down in the "search" for Hussein -- civilian deaths, Japanese reporter threatened, etc.

So the talk will be about betting on terrorism, while the silence will hide the being terrorized.

25. That wasnt going to be reported anyway
not with this "liberal" media. But another poster made a good point. What ever happened to the people/entities who made millions on the airline crash post 9/11? Was it ever investigated? Why does no one talk about it anymore?

Somebody has to do a "hey, you remember when the PENTAGON was going to set up a futures market on CHAOS in the Middle East?" thread in, say, a year or two. This is too weird for me to accept as anything more than a waking dream brought on by sleep deprivation.

I can't believe I actually read a headline like that in my lifetime.

This has got to be part of some kind of mass-hypnosis effort.

"The Pentagon says it is reconsidering its plan for an internet futures market on terror attacks and assassinations in the Middle East.

In a statement late Monday, the Pentagon said it would consider what it called the 'technical promise' of the plan before asking for additional funds to make it operational."

24. Fox news: Terrorism Futures Market cancelled
Edited on Tue Jul-29-03 11:24 AM by gristy
<snip>

WASHINGTON ? The Pentagon will abandon a plan to establish a futures market to help predict terrorist strikes, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee said Tuesday.

Sen. John Warner (search), R-Va., said he spoke by phone with the program's director, "and we mutually agreed that this thing should be stopped."

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,93190,00.html

THAT sure didn't take long.

How long 'till Poindexter is cancelled?????

30. Question: Would YOU want to be the one...
...to correctly predict the next terrorist attack? On a government site? Whatever you "won," I'd guess you wouldn't get to spend much of it during your extended, all-expenses-paid, indefinite vacation at lovely tropical Gitmo after your surprise visit by the boys of Homeland Security. (Think Ed McMahon with a large gun and a warrant for your arrest.)

31. at the Iraq hearing today: they asked if it was POINDEXTER
that ran this project...asking Wolfowich himself....

and several senators asked for a list of who worked on this, how much it cost, and who's idea it was, and they want heads to roll...

senators: What is THIS...contracting for terrorism...selling to the highest bidder....killing presidents...hired assassinations...killing for corporate profit....

wolfo: I had no idea, just read about it in today's paper...we try to get these guys to be creative, but it sounds like they got a "little" too creative....

(of course, IMO, it just sounds like what the pentagoon does everyday...killing for corporate profit, assassinations...and all that...)
