Officials deny air marshal cuts
WASHINGTON — Department of Homeland Security officials denied Wednesday that there were any plans to cut back on in-flight air marshals and sought to defuse sharp criticism by promising new money for the security program.

Strange. MSNBC is claiming credit for first reporting and then causing the reversal of the Homeland Security Office's decision to remove the air marshalls. Now the HSO says the decision to remove the marshals in the first place had never been made.

MSNBC (an incessant Bush "horn-blower") v. the Bushies: never thought I'd see the day.

4. Rebel........you have sorely misinformed with your special snips......
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 05:50 AM by DagmarK
What is your cause exactly? I am glad I went to read the whole story.....

1. You snip the article to make it look like the FIRST sentence of the article (after WASHINGTON -) is this big DENIAL.

The first sentence (and therefore the TOPIC SENTENCE) in this article is:

WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security hastily cancelled a fledgling plan Wednesday that would have taken federal air marshals off long-distance flights to cut costs. Secretary Tom Ridge pledged to maintain the security program amid warnings of possible new terrorist attacks.

****THAT, my friend is NOT a denial. It's an admission by DHS that had the plan to cancel the air marshals and that they cancelled it the next day......just as so many of us believed.

2. THE ALLEGED QUOTE that you have posted in your thread.....does not even appear in the article.

Egad, you are new here.....but I assure you that this kind of information sharing won't buy you much respect.

6. USA T. scrubbed their story, I heard the exact same thing on NPR
Last night there was a denial that a cut was ever going to happen

And all night I was wondering if another lie would be ignored by the

whore media or if it was yet another outrage designed to distract

from W*'s credibility problems

Unfortunately many of us have seen how a 'screen shot' has become

necessary to prove that some stories were ever put on the web.

Air marshals back to long flights

By Mimi Hall and Fred Bayles, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — The Department of Homeland Security hastily cancelled a fledgling plan Wednesday that would have taken federal air marshals off long-distance flights to cut costs. Secretary Tom Ridge pledged to maintain the security program amid warnings of possible new terrorist attacks.

********WTF????? Well, Rebel, I apologize for the accusation. But it seems that different stories appear for different people!

and I guess the bottom line is......DHS isn't sure how they get out of the PR mess they got themselves into... (ie,"how much CAN we lie and get away with it??")
