Barr tries to revive Clinton-Flynt suit (Salon & AP)
Just when I almost started to stand Bob Barr, (for his attacks on the so-called "PATRIOT" act), he has to pull stuff like this and remind me what a low-life right wing religious bigot he really is:

http://salon.com/news/wire/2004/04/12/barr/index.html

"Former Rep. Bob Barr is trying to revive a $30 million defamation suit against former President Clinton, Democratic political adviser James Carville and pornographer Larry Flynt.

The Georgia Republican alleges the three conspired to smear him by publishing embarrassing information about his private life in Flynt's Hustler magazine as retaliation for his outspoken role in the impeachment proceedings against Clinton."

It's all about the Clenis, isn't it? You would almost think they worship the Clenis. Maybe that's what they're doing over at freep central, chanting "BOW BEFORE THE POWER OF THE CLENIS, MORTAL SCUM!!!"

1. Bob CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT PENISES.
Or at least Bill Clintons penis. He has been thinking about Clinton's genitals for what- going on 12 years now?

What a weird-o. You would think he would have higher priorities than reminding people of the the good old 1990's via Clinton's sexy "scandal"....

2. Let him do it.
I think messing with Clinton and Flynt right now could backfire in a big war in an election year.

5. I agree.
The Witchhunt wrapped up last month, total cost to taxp
And since when is it defamation when you point out the hypocritical truth? I suspect that the RNC is behind this to deflect public attention from the 9/11 commission....it is only going to fuel more hatred and resentment for the anti-American Party.

4. Could be to tie up Flynt, scare him from publishing the anti-Bush book
I thought Flynt was bringing out a book this summer that corroborates the rumor about Bush getting a girlfriend to have an abortion. Ashcroft is talking about cracking down on pornography (pun unintended), so there could be a coordinated attack on Flynt in the works - tie him up in legal knots, threaten him, etc. with the implicit understanding that they will back off if he doesn't publish.

7. Does anyone have any idea what he claims to have as evidence?
Demonstration of conspiracy is usually pretty straight forward, if there is any real evidence at all. Is this just wishful thinking, or does he have a secret recording of WJC & Larry Flynt talking about it (ala Linda Tripp)?

8. so where is the lawsuit against the elves?
that was a classic conspiracy, and they poured out defamation by the kiloton. we've even got a confession, in book form, and chock full of details. where's *that* defamation lawsuit? what part did barr play in that? can he be sued for it?

9. Maybe he should have remembered he was a public figure before he comitted
adultry. Or, at least remembered the old adage about the pot calling the kettle black, when he decided to go after Clinton.

11. Just a slimy attempt by Barr...
To have a caption reading:

ROBERT BARR

vs.

WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON,
JAMES CARVILLE,
and
LAWRENCE FLYNT

in an election year. I think it is a desperate attempt to neutralize the Big Dog before he hits the campaign trail. And oh, Lordy, Lordy, I cannot wait until the Big Dog really hits the trail.
