http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=afp/iraq_unrest_fallujahCAMP FALLUJAH, Iraq (AFP) - US forces again conducted airstrikes against insurgents in Fallujah overnight, a spokesman for the US Marines besieging the flashpoint Iraqi city said.
The latest airstrike came as the marines decided to postpone planned patrols of the powderkeg city which were initially due to start Thursday, but are now scheduled to get under way later this week.
US fighter jets and gunships have been pounding positions in the Sunni Muslim stronghold since Tuesday.
Overnight, "an AC-130 was used to engage some individuals who ambushed a convoy," said Captain Christopher Logan, a spokesman at the US Marines Camp Fallujah base.
He said there were no American casualties. He did not know whether there were any dead or wounded on the other side.
