British firms set sights on Libya as hopes rise of an end to sanctions

Brian Whitaker
Tuesday September 2, 2003
The Guardian

British firms that had been hoping to do business in Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein are switching their attention to Libya as a more promising market.
With UN sanctions likely to be lifted tomorrow or Thursday, Muammar Gadafy's oil-rich North African state is coming in from the cold at a time when trade prospects for Iraq are rapidly deteriorating.

1.  Somehow, I don't think
this will be allowed by BushCo.

Either the sanctions won't be lifted or something's going
to happen

2. The British are seeing the Iraq is a US ONLY Oil Company
and expect Bush to allow Britain to make $$$ in Libya. Be interesting if

A) Bush will allow anybody to make $$ in Libya.

B) Or try to turn it into another US ONLY Oil Company.
