Blair has departed from the rule of law, says his former adviser
The Independent
By Colin Brown, Deputy Political Editor
09 November 2004

Tony Blair's former senior diplomatic adviser on Europe has accused the Prime Minister, and George Bush, of acting illegally over the war on Iraq.

In a speech last night, Sir Stephen Wall, who served under Baroness Thatcher, John Major and Mr Blair before leaving Downing Street this year, questioned the Prime Minister's judgement and accused him of "departing from the rule of law".

The timing of Sir Stephen's remarks, as the battle for Fallujah begins, were seen as highly damaging for Mr Blair, who faced criticism yesterday for committing British troops to support the assault. Sir Stephen, well-known for his pro-European views, is widely respected in the diplomatic community.

One source said: "He is an ultra-loyalist mandarin. It is astonishing that he has done this." His comments also raised further questions about the number of senior civil servants who privately believed the war to be illegal.

1. I'm sure he won't be the last Tory who says this.

4. Tory? Why do you say that?
He's a career civil servant.
Sir Stephen, Principal Adviser to Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Westminster, was born in 1947.

He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1968, working first in the UK Mission to the UN in New York, before returning to the United Nations Department in London. In 1969, he was posted to Addis Ababa and then on to Paris, where he worked successively in the Foreign Office News Department, on loan to the Prime Minister James Callaghan's Press Office and as Assistant Private Secretary to David Owen, the then Foreign Secretary.

From 1979 to 198, Stephen Wall served in the British Embassy Washington. On return to the FCO he was Assistant Head and then Head of European Community Department (Internal). From 1988 to 1991, he was Private Secretary to three successive Foreign Secretaries (Geoffrey Howe, John Major and Douglas Hurd). From 1991 to 1993, he returned to No. 10 as Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, John Major, responsible for Foreign Policy and Defence.

Sir Stephen served as British Ambassador to Portugal from 1993 to 1995. He was Permanent Representative to the European Union from 1995 to 2000. From 2000 to 2004 he was Head of the European Secretariat in the Cabinet Office in London and EU adviser to the Prime Minister, Tony Blair.

5. Because ...
... AP finds it impossible that anyone other than a rabid Thatcherite
could possibly question the actions, promises or intentions of his
blessed Saint Tony.

"Accept people as they are, not as you would have them be" - a good way
to live and the best way to tolerate AP's blind faith in the puppet.

6. Blair is a high Tory creation married to another Thatcherist hybrid
who did a deal with Reagan/Bush1 and the rest of the Comorra.

For those who have actually met him/know him/have successfully sued him, his days are almost at a close.

He is the son of a World War II Russian/German prostitute called Emilia Schiller who is nearly 80 years old and lives in Buckinghamshire, UK. Like her he was deeply involved in UK mainland bombings in the late 1960s and early 1970s under the brands of "IRA".

His father is ex-UK Tory Premier Sir Edward Heath who finally acknowledged paternity of him in 1964 after blood test analyses in a UK High Court action brought about by Schiller who was being extradited to the Soviet Union and played her winning trump card with the cops who brought criminal charges against her and a band of Polish priests called the Marian Fathers.

"Cherie" is Robert Maxwell's daughter by the second "Mrs Thatcher" who was put into office in 1984 by MI5 after the first one was sot by the Army for attempting a republican coup in London.
