Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar vows to retake Afghanistan

KABUL, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar has accused the United States of trying to impose a puppet administration in Afghanistan and vowed to regain control of the country, a Pakistan-based Afghan news agency reported on Friday.

A message from the leader of the Taliban movement overthrown by U.S.-led forces in late 2001 was sent to newspaper offices in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, the Afghan Islamic Press said.

The message, to mark the Muslim festival of Eid al-Fitr starting this weekend, came the day before the third anniversary of the day when U.S.-backed Afghan forces captured Kabul from the Taliban on November 13, 2001.

Omar said the Taliban remained committed to their Islamic ideals.

3. Hey, good enemies are hard to come by.
You can't just go killing them all off with no replacements handy.

10. He was largely responsible for the Taliban
who oppressed, beat and terrorized all the women in Afghanistan. Frankly, I wanted his head on a platter long before 9/11.

2. from the article: Like OBL, Omar is still at large
Like bin Laden, Mullar Omar has remained at large despite a three-year hunt by thousands of U.S. and allied troops. U.S. officials say they believe the men are hiding somewhere along the rugged border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

11. Puppet govt...
If anyone knows about a puppet govt it's the Taliban, which essentially was a puppet government. They weren't even Afghani.
