the BUSHES used FEMA MONEY TO BUY FLA. VOTES FOR JUNIOR BOY
According to an article posted in the Sun-Sentinel this morning the Bush Boys used FEMA MONEY to BUY FLA. VOTES for JUNIOR BOY, and then tried to cover it up ... here are the first four paragraphs to the article,

As the second hurricane in less than a month bore down on Florida last fall, a federal consultant predicted a "huge mess" that could reflect poorly on President Bush and suggested that his re-election staff be brought in to minimize any political liability, records show.

Two weeks later, a Florida official summarizing the hurricane response wrote that the Federal Emergency Management Agency was handing out housing assistance "to everyone who needs it without asking for much information of any kind."

The records are contained in hundreds of pages of Gov. Jeb Bush's storm-related e-mails initially requested by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel Oct. 13.

The governor's office finally released the documents Friday, after threat of a lawsuit by the newspaper.

1. Reported at DU first
I remember a DUer telling me that they were getting some sort of hurricane debit card last year. Whoever it was, said they'd never had such an easy time making a hurricane claim and that the money was flowing.

6. Not my experience

lost home and all contents in Panhandle area (Hurricane Ivan) and it took over five months before I could get a small LOAN, not grant, from FEMA. Even Red Cross said they were broke and could not help us.

Thankfully, family and friends came to our help or we would have been living under a bridge.

Money may have been flowing in other areas of Florida, dunno.

9. Thanks for your thoughtfulness
The experience made me remember that worse things can happen than losing possessions. Gives one a new perspective.

Cheers.

14. I reported this

It came up again in a conversation with a friend that I visited in Orlando today. He told me he got $1400.00. His neighborhood was barely touched. I got $457.00. I had about two thousand in outlays. I was very lucky, in that my roof stayed together and the flooding actually stopped at the sandbags. Most of my neighbors lost their rooves. We were hit pretty hard. He got a new generator and a bunch of new tools. He said his electric was off for one hour. I did buy a reliable driver for $245 and about $200 worth of plywood. Lost a shed and the back fence. Our electric was off for about a day and half the first hurricane, then 26 hours the second hurricane. We lost all of our food, two refrigerators full, twice. We had to evacuate, no plumbing.

Anyway they were GIVING THE MONEY AWAY. I should have bought a generator but had misgivings about it. I don't understand why we only got $457 but they didn't ask for any documentation. I was happy my home was still there and no one I knew was hurt. Everybody at work was talking about how to get as much money as possible. One of the bush objectives was to quell the huge discontent over the huge multiple deductibles applied to hurricane damage by the republican changes to insurance laws. This was a sore point that they tried to distance themselves from by giving money away.

2. Recommended.
Of course, this isn't a shock, or even a surprise, but it's outrageous, nonetheless.

Garcelon, a former FEMA employee, recommended that "top-level people from FEMA and the White House need to develop a communication strategy and an agreed-upon set of themes and communications objectives."

"Communication consultants from the President's re-election campaign should be brought in," he wrote. "Above all, everybody's got to understand that no amount of flogging DHS/ FEMA will insure that the recovery will go perfectly. This is going to be a huge mess. The public needs to be prepared for it."

3. I'll wait to see if this puppy explodes. "Funds" are always just a
disaster waiting to happen and old Jeb can always take a dive if Babs says so. I will not get my hopes up that any more intelligence will be shed of Bush this week than already with the Terry issue. That was clear and present hypocricy.

4. I think the old Bush had trouble with this. He was slow with aid
What about all the military bases moving to the South plus the building of arms in the South. Now that would be a good study along with this.

8. nothing to see? i think there is plenty to see ... and to think about.
there is the bush misuse of our tax dollars one more time.
there is the bush hypocrisy that they won the elections fair and square when they resorted to every dirty trick, in addition to controllin the voting machines and our votes, to claim themselves the victors of the white house.
there is the bush lack of morality which has been present for generatons since forever--but which they may one day break their vocal chords over trying to convince the world that they are morally upright people.
there is jeb covering up one more time for his brother...
No. please. don't move along. stay with the piece. you will find lots to think about.

10. I hope this is the beginning
of more investigation of fraud. I believe most of us that did have hurricane damage are angry at what we are hearing. There are still blue tarps everywhere, and damaged homes that need repair. We are in no way ready to face another season like last year! Where my mom lives people are still trying to get help and are living in bad conditions, these are seniors who are really having a very dificult time getting the help that is needed. Believe me, the Bush boys win no awards here in their efforts!!

11. My friend in FL got only $2,000 & her home's uninhabitable.
Her mobile home was damaged by two hurricanes, but the insurance company stalled so long on repairs that the place filled up with toxic mold and has been condemned by Florida authorities. FEMA only gave her $2,000.

This poor woman was also injured in a car accident caused by an uninsured motorist the same week. Her injuries are severe. She faces staggering medical debts that have messed up her credit rating. She lost her job because of the work she missed due to medical treatments for her injuries. Now she can't find a new job, because she's an accountant and the employers are checking out her credit rating and refusing to hire her!!!!

I guess Jeb and Shrub only helped rich Republican voters rebuild after the hurricanes, not poor DEMS living in trailer parks.
