Bush's Political Capital (Newsweek) President seems to have lost his touch
Finally.

By Howard Fineman
Chief Political Correspondent
Newsweek
Updated: 5:58 p.m. ET April 27, 2005

April 27 - You’ve got to hand it to the PR geniuses at the White House. There’s nothing like back-to-back Texas photo ops with Crown Prince Abdullah and Rep. Tom DeLay to give Americans a visceral sense that the Boss is on top of the gas-price situation and desperate to save working folks cash at the pump.

Just kidding, of course.

2. It's pretty humorous to see people like Fineman...
talking about Bush losing his "touch." Like he ever had it. He was always the same -- oafish, clueless, arrogant, mean and vindictive -- it's just that Fineman and the other media hos refuse to see the reality right in front of him.

4. There is something about Fineman that bothers me
He seems to come from the old days of minute-book secretary journalist. Just write down what the President says, and that is reporting. No healthy skepticism that is a hallmark of good journalism. So the fact that he's now presenting Bush's political flopping as something "new" that hasn't arisen before is no surprise. Fineman simply wasn't looking for it.

Writer.
