Have Iraqi Media Criticized the occupation? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 06:53 PM by Charlls
This would be a nice way to check if Iraq has been "freed" or it has been colonized.
Anyone here knows something about this from first hand?
I would be satisfied with at least a hint that anti-occupation groups have a voice on those media

Although Bremer claims the press is free, they are not free to 'incite violence'. Interpretation of this has included denunciations of the occupation, celebrations of Saddam's birthday, etc. There about as free as one might expect to be in a police state.

...inciting action or opposition against the occupation isn't permitted. So no, the press is not 'free', unless you mean by 'free' able to peddle western culture and products...

4. That's right! Paul Bremer banned criticism of the US occupation |
|
and the little tyrant has been closing newspapers critical of uS presence, or US auctioning off of Iraqi assets to Wall Street.
