The cruelest month (Seven Funerals in a Single Day)

In seven American towns, seven slow processions brought soldiers home on Wednesday, another day of tears and taps, of the crisp report of rifle salutes, of mothers reaching to touch children in caskets.

As the number of military funerals surges in an echo of the rising death toll, a woman in southwestern Florida gripped a Marine's arm as he led her into a church to mark the end of her son's life. It was the same chapel where 19 years earlier a baptism had marked that life's beginning.

In southern Illinois, a sergeant in an honor guard broke into tears during a service for a 21-year-old soldier, and later the soldier's family looked on proudly before he was buried beside a hickory tree displaying the first buds of spring.

In Texas, a mother who crossed the river from Mexico when she was 6 months pregnant so her son could be an American watched that same son laid to rest with military honors. Her son's 3-year-old daughter reached up and accepted an American flag that had draped her father's coffin.

and never find peace. How can they live with themselves? I'm so sorry for all of the children and parents, brothers, sisters, wives and husband who've lost a loved one. I hate it. I hate it!! What are we waiting for...why do we have to wait till November. Why can't someone step to the plate and impeach him!

Before the war, I worked with a wing nut and I would tell him that a lot of Americans will die in the coming war for nothing. He said we were going to bring democracy to Iraq and get rid of Saddam and as to the deaths he would say, "you have to break some eggs to bake a cake."
