It's the American People, Stupid

snip

One of America's leading conservative intellectuals, Professor Francis Fukuyama, said Mr Bush's victory foreshadowed an increasingly tense relationship for the US and the world.

"This is very important internationally. People will say that its not George Bush that's the problem, its the American people that's the problem."

International antagonism to US foreign policy had, up until now, centred on the Bush Administration, while sentiment towards the American people was more benign. But Mr Bush's return will entrench world opinion against the US as whole.

Yep, and so it starts.
I plan on keeping my "Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him" button in plain site when I visit Europe.

Thank you red states!

2. I heard this before the election.
The world was willing to think the problem was only Shrub be3cause he wasn't really elected, but if he gets elected this time, the hatered will transfer to the American people. I HATE that this is true because it sure isn't ME!

Look at the London paper! The entire front page has a big picture of shrub and the text says How can 56 million people be this stupid!

I don't have the answer to that!!!!

6. Oh, Sydney, you schmuck!

We clearly needed help, like any people need help from time to time. Way back when, the French fleet held back the British sea lords (for once) in the Battle of the Virginia Capes. As a result, Cornwallis was unable to receive supplies at Yorktown and our tiny revolutionary army (supported by a minority of colonists) finally won big. Thank you very much.

Haven't needed much help since but THIS TIME it would have been VERY HELPFUL if either/both Howard and Blair went down. Oh, Sydney, let me guess, you re-elected Howard. What's the matter with Australians? I'll tell you, when we needed an object lesson for the unconvinced in this country, Howard going down would have done it. And London, you helped about as much this time as you did when you sided with the Confederacy during the Civil War (wonderful folks that you were). Blair could have gone at any time. I appreciate ministers quitting the Blair government but how about, on the way out, saying, Blair has to go and go now. And Labour, great whore of all left parties, why couldn't you have removed Blair and replaced him with Brown or someone else. That would have crushed Bush.

There are places on earth where people can ask what's wrong with Americans but certainly NOT Australia and GB. Of course, that presumes that the results are true. Why don't the Australians and British press report on this rather than send us only Greg Palast (who is truly superb but has to fly solo). Where are the rest of your reporters?
