I keep hearing how there aren't many of you in the Democratic party, well for those of you that are in the party, I want to say THANK YOU for having the good sense of staying away from that evil party called the republicans.

And for everyone else that may be a bit jealous, thank you too!

As a white male, I never thought I'd feel like the "minority" in anything, but when it comes to being a white male who supports progressive policies, I guess I am.

But it also gives me insight as to why so many WMs support the conservative agenda. Unfortunately I think fear, resentment, and just plain ignorance plays a big part in it. That's why they all flock to Rush Limbaugh every day. He feeds their base emotions.

I'm not sure if this is an insult to white male Democrats (that they are stereotypical), or if said Dems need to have their "masculinity" re-assured.

Better or worse:

The REALITY is that currently the American people are responding to masculine energy. They want to feel safe. They want to feel like someone is in control. They do not want equivocation.

The biggest issue with "Soccer Moms" currently is national security.

Howard Dean is a strong, simple, masculine leader whereas Kerry is a subtle leader, very good at seeing both sides of an issue.

The current historical situation requires a leadership style more masculine than Kerry's. The American people do not want Bush Sr., they want Margret Thatcher (issues aside).

White male here. Always have been, always will be. Also make slightly more than the median income.

Been a Democrat since age 18, and that ain't gonna change either. Even if I won the lottery or got rich some other way, I'd be a Democrat. Because sticking up for the underdog is, in my mind, a moral and spiritual imperative.

With all this talk about white males not being attracted to Democrats, and now that white males are in the minority of progressives do we have the actual demographical facts?

I'm sure white males make up the MAJORITY or the democatic party. Just because progressive issues focus intently on womans rights and the rights of minorities doesn't mean that white males are under represented by a long shot.

Who makes up the 9 Democratic canidates? 1 African american woman, 1 Afro-american man, 7 white males.

Who makes up the leadership of the DNC (many white males). It also seems to me that white males make up a clear majority of Democratic congressmen.

White males are not, and will never be underrepresented in the Democratic party.

of being a white male, a boomer, and an American citizen. I submit that boomer white males are the root cause of all of the current civil liberties problems, all of the right wing fanaticism, and of actively, and knowingly perpetuating all of the hate and intolerance currently evident in society today.

Bottom line we are an utterly worthless group as a whole. There ARE exceptions, of course, but overall - we are indeed a worthless lot of human beings.

I don't believe the 22% number I have seen for how many white males claim to be a Democrat. I know a large number of people in various walks of life. I live in a predominantly Republican state. I'd guess here it is about 35% Republican, 30% Democrat, and 35% asleep or members of an irrelevant third party.

signing in! And as my gift to the Republican Party, I'd like to announce that I recently brought another into the fold. Over the past few months, I've been talking a lot about guitars and politics with a friend at work during our smoke breaks. After admitting that he didn't bother voting in the last election, he proudly announced to me that he'll throw his support and vote to the Democratic nominee next year.

I figure I'll point him towards DU soon. Baby steps, baby steps...

Guess I've always identified with the Democratic party. Though I disagree there's few white males in the party. I think instead there are a lower percentage of white male democrats as opposed to republicans because we REALLY ARE A BIG TENT PARTY. A lot more diversity here.

I was a rebel and became a Democrat :) I think a lot of it was reading Samuel Adams in 5th/6th grade and seeing the evil that was Reagan.
