Does anyone know if the Bush Family engages in any philanthropic efforts (besides themselves and their fat friends)?
I don't mean lending thier name or support (i.e. Literacy), but actually giving to charitable causes or having a foundation that benefits the less fortunate.
What about the rest of the Administration? Do any of them donate to charity from their vast and ill-gotten gains?

1. There are many wealthy families who teach their children... |
|
that with wealth comes responsibility to those less fortunate. Not only do they give away a great deal of money, but you see their children as adults involved in all kinds of social causes, professionally or voluntarily. The Bushes don't appear to be among those families. They seem to have devoted their lives to enriching themselves, and others of their economic group, who share their lack of any kind of social conscience.

2. It's pretty disgusting if they don't.... |
|
what is it, noblisse oblige? I even know fairly greedy families who still, as a matter of course, contribute to charitable causes.
Aren't the neocons always talking about how we shouldn't have social services because the wealthy will donate more of their "tax savings" to the less fortunate?

4. I think Kevin Phillips' book "American Dynasty" mentions the |
|
ABSENCE of any philanthropic efforts in the Bush family--haven't read the book, but if my memory serves me, Phillips mentioned this in an interview on some NPR radio show.
Doesn't surprise me.

5. I know, why should we be surprised |
|
according to the Bush Family, the poor are poor because God doesn't like them and they DESERVE to be poor! Why should they give their precious money to the lazy and useless.

7. I heard they were once involved with family planing. |
|
Turns out family planing did not reduce the black population, but did counsel whites on how to avoid pregnancies. Anyway, they got out of it and became against abortions.
