2. The events in Iraq will eclipse the phony "jobs numbers."
10 dead soldiers today, at least 40 wounded, likely more.

"Jobs!!" screamed the chickenhawks. "We created, like, a lot of part-time jobs for all y'all!"

You can't wrap fire in paper.

7. Some DUers think that 90% of the jobs created were part-time
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 05:17 PM by VolcanoJen
The number I've seen quoted is something like 300,000 of the 308,000 new jobs were part-time jobs. I know there are threads and sources and links out there from Friday/Saturday... I just can't find them at this moment.

Also, 71,000 of the jobs involved may have been the striking California grocery workers who returned to work. The numbers don't completely add up for me, but hell, I'm no damned economist.

All in all, I think the Dems would be wise to just fuggetabout the new jobs report, and instead talk about this fuckin' bullshit mess in Iraq, especially since the issue is front-and-center again, thanks to Richard Clarke. Condi's testifying Thursday, and April is already shaping up to be as bloody a month in the war as March was.

Expect Iraq to be the issue this newsweek. Tomorrow the morning news programs will hit on the 600 dead horrific milestone, while informing Americans how many of their own were killed over the weekend. :-(

edited for clarification

According to todays Rasmussen poll the job numbers did nothing for Bush, he lost ground to Kerry. People dont pay attention to how many jobs are created. Just poll your family members, call them up and ask them how many jobs were created in March. I bet very few know. Then ask them how many dead soldiers we have from the Iraq war.

6. The phony jobs numbers may prove false indeed.
The dept of Labor is all ready investigating why Treasuries plummeted a few minutes before the numbers were released.
