Has the Republican Party Finally Killed Trust?
Edited on Mon Apr-05-04 05:47 AM by The Lone Liberal
For decades now the Republican Party has preached that we could not trust government. Was this a self-fulfilling prophesy? With the curtain of secrecy and the policy of lies and deception has the Republican Party and their fellow-travelers finally destroyed trust in this country?

Who can we trust? Certainly not the government, for they have lied and are lying. Not only are they lying there is no one, not Congress, not the Courts, no one is seeking the truth.

Only the naïve trust the company for which they work. They have lied and will continue to lie in the name of the bottom line.

The religious leaders have lied to us. In the name of political expediency they have sold the lie from the pulpit.

Your neighbor is not to be trusted. Our neighbors are just like us, trying to survive and in today’s world survival means betrayal.

The Future is not to be trusted, for we have been striped of the knowledge required to understand what tomorrow may bring. The people stand isolated and vulnerable without trust.

2. Shrunk it down to the size where they could drown it in a bathtub...

Held it underwater, wrapped both hands around its neck, and gleefully choked the life out it, breath by ragged breath.

3. And they are over 30.
Never trust anyone over 30.

(Note, I am over 30, will think about whether I trust myself.)

5. It's because our elected representatives have abrogated their duty to
their constiuents and to the country as a whole. The representatives and Senators make decisions that are predicated on what is best for their party and their donors, not what will make communities stronger, citizens healthier, schools innovative, etc.

Read The Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton and James Madison to see what the role and purpose of Congress was supposed to be and how they were supposed to function (ideally).
