2. Not going to happen
Unlike many here at DU, Kerry is smart enough to realize that pulling out now would only make life worse for most Iraqis.

3. yeah, they'd have to govern their country all by themselves
without a lot of friendly white men with guns telling them what to do. How will they ever manage?

5. You can't be serious
Even the Iraqis themselves know that if the US were to totally pull out the country would immediately descend into chaos and civil war. Do you deny this? Do you actually think that a total pull out of US forces would result in an instantly peaceful Iraq? Please...

14. The oldest excuse in the book. Ask Iraq if they want us there.
We are infidels soiling their land.

At least until they have the structures and institutions in place that enable them to govern themselves.

You would be amazed how fast they would govern themselves, if we would just leave. We got what we came for. Saddam. Now lets leave.

20. Response
If the US left the only thing that would be amazing is the speed at which the bickering factions start killing each other. Saddam was the sole power on Iraq. Now that he's gone, there is a tremendous power vacuum that is only being filled by US troops. Do you honestly think that if the US left, the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites would sit down and start singing Cum ba ya? Please.

9. First thing that will happen
Iran will move in and keep order. Not great but they got a hell of a lot more legitmacy than a bunch of western crusaders.

on the crap that is trying to be imposed on them by the west.

19. We have a theocracy here - we seem to be OK
If that's what they want that's what they get. The important thing is that it be their choice, not imposed on them. Saddam was imposed on them.

7. The only people that want the u.s. in Iraq
are people in the u.s., everybody else on the planet wants you out of there. Either leave or get booted out, it's your choice.

You are not some kind of superspecies that magically bestows health and happiness on people. It most cases it is the opposite that happens.

Get out of Iraq.

11. Nonsense
A fair majority of Iraqis want the US to stay in Iraq for at least another year.

15. You won't be staying in there for another year
you will be building military bases there, so you can control the rest of the Middle East, and installing a puppet government.

10. Then turn W and Cheney over to the Hague for war crimes.
You see, if you start an war for no just reason, its a crime against humanity. If you don't believe, me see what they charged the Nazis with at Nuremburg.
