The missing link: What prevented us from preventing 911? |
|
RICE: I remember very well that the president was aware that there were issues inside the United States. He talked to people about this. But I don't remember the al Qaeda cells as being something that we were told we needed to do something about.
This is an amazing cover for Bush*. This statement was planned, vetted quite a bit (presumably).
This was the disconnect moment.
The answer may be in the 'tasking' quandry. Since Rice says she had established this 'tasking' which has been denied in all the agencies by everyone but the principles, the lower limits of the blame-game have been set.
The reality is much easier. Mismanagement. We had all the resources, and all the pieces of the puzzle, but management was incapable of putting together the pieces. This is what happens when you manage by delegation. By making no decisions, you enable your departments but give them no direction or synthesis.
Where will the blame for this mismanagement lay in the end?

1. I was thinking about this while listening just now to the repeat |
|
of yesterday's hearing. I think this bunch thought about government and how it is run as an academic exercise at best and a ritual at worst. Remember how * practiced looking presidential? He sat around in suits and held press conferences at which he continued to spout the some old BS he had during the campaign. Rice's answers yesterday clearly indicated that she did not have an appreciation of the scope of her job nor did she have the savvy to try to learn what that was. This whole bunch thrives on image, not on substance. They also lack the judgment to recognize problems and identify solutions that are well thought out and practical. They think it is their "due", to quote Cheney. The person in whom they have chosen to place their loyalty is a boorish, lazy, self-absorbed goon. The tone is set at the top.

answer. They let it happen to impose their lunatic philosophy. That is, if they weren't complicit.

"But I don't remember the al Qaeda cells as being something that we were told we needed to do something about."
Al Q. bombed an Embassy, struck at the USS Cole and was suspect in the 1st Twin Towers bombing and thye needed to be told to do something about cells within the USA?
That is gross negligence right there!

Is a lighter sentence than LIHOP. But more important is to keep things away from the Truth - MIHOP! The evidence is there. Key placement of bureaucratic administrators to stop and/or side track the flow of key information for one.

6. Well, from what I can see |

They could not find their silver bullets and fly swatters. Had they found them, I am sure 9/11 would never have happened.
