11. yes - not just a march against the invasion, but a march for impeachment |
|
Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 03:35 PM by nu_duer
that is exactly what needs to happen
a huge, mega-organized march that would channel all of the angst and anger and fury at what these criminals have done to our nation and her people
It should be organized to the point of, along with individuals driving out, busses chartered to carry people who wouldn't be able to get themselves there
It should be overly massive and definitive - the largest march on DC in our history -impossible for the media to ignore
but I have no idea how it would be brought about - ANSWER, the Dem party, AA, MoveOn, DU, patriotic press - all of the above and more working in unison - with one simple message: "You've failed, You're Fired, Get the Hell Out!"
I would get there somehow

Both Ramsey Clark and John Dean have already made the charges, I suspect that each of those men gave it a lot of thought before they came to the conclusion that reasonable grounds exist for the House to bring charges and the Senate to hold the trial. http://www.votetoimpeach.org/Thom

I would have to think that his oath of office, which requires that he faithfully dispatch the dutys of the office of President would count for something. Is that oath alone not enough to demand honesty from the President in his dealings with the people and the Congress?

Or we could take buses,etc.-yes, I would go to demonstrate that George W. that is exactly what should happen: state rallies. Get people fired up. Plan, strategize for the BIG MARCH.
I don't want International Answer involved. They turn protests into an altogether different type of event. And they really have ONE agenda: justice for arab/muslims. That's great. But we have to make this a simple citizen action. As pure and simple and free from outside influence as possible.

38. Last time I checked, the repukes controlled everything with safe margins. |
|
I would be a wasted and pointless effort.
No repuke, plus add the dinos, would ever initiate such a thing - even if he and his entire gang of criminals were caught screwing little boys and girls.
The repukes main and only allegience is to the repuke party, with a few dino enablers.
Will never happen.
Now, if we had a plan to keep the repukes distracted, and out of the chambers, and only patriotic dems could ramrod a rushed vote while they weren't looking (just the like repukes do every f---ing day), then it might have some chance of success. But since most of the dems are just too damned honerable and play nice, this will also never happen.
Waste of time and effort.
You'd all just be another "focus group".

37. Well, how 'bout THE THREE MILLION MOM MARCH... and have the moms of |
|
our troops, and the moms of draft-age kids, LEAD the charge?
We should carry placards that read: "Get rid of the entire corrupt, sold-out crowd in Washington!"
"Take back the voting process and elect all new members to ALL branches of government!"
They'll start seeing that they're all in the cross-hairs if they don't do something NOW.
With that, they'll KNOW...that WE KNOW!! And maybe it will make a few of those who are not quite ready to impeach bush take a second look.
We also need placards that say "Give the people back our air waves! No more media monopolies."
"We're taking back our Democracy!!"
I'm ready.

Edited on Fri Apr-09-04 05:49 PM by Marianne
I protested this war for many weekends freezing my ass off in the frozen north here in Maine. We , about a hundered of us, protested on a bridge where the wind blowing over that freezing water was like an air conditioner gone berserk. We once did not even recognize a friend and a familiar neighbor because of all the clothing that needed to be worn including face scarfs.
I will never regret that protest. That action has allowed me to reconcile my conscience, for some reason. We are only the people--we have no clout, if viewed in that way. We were dismissed, not only by our stupid president and his sycophants, but by our own congress ,who I think were playing quite sleazy politics. And that includes Kerry.
So, to a certain extent, I have not the burden of carrying guilt for this unacceptable killing, murder and slaughter in Iraq that has been engaged in with the unmitigated consent of our unelected, quite stupid, wannabee president.
I and many like me did what we could in the position we find ourselves in. Ther is not any guilt
I see his pictures here as he goes on ANOTHER goddam vacation. He is going on vacation for doing nothing but travel around getting more money for his campaign
WOW, that is really tireing. It takes a lot out of a president to travel around, reaping in the money--so he absolutely needs ANOTHER vacation.
Why is not anyone pointing this out in the media.
He is being irresponsible. He is ignoring the deaths of our sons and daughters in Iraq.
Geez
Can we get this asshole out of here?

47. I have been thinking about this non-stop for the last two days |
|
The problem is even if you could impeach Bush* Cheney would become president. That would not accomplish any change in policy because Cheney determines the policy.
That aside, impeachment is too good for Bush.* It also takes too long. We need Bush* out now. We should demand his and Cheney's resignation. We should start a massive letter writing, faxing campaign to Senators and Congressman demanding their immediate resignation. There are no Constitutional restrictions on a demand for a resignation. If we could build, build, build this effort, the demand for immediate resignation, then we could organize the protests. We have to start doing something right away. Planning an impeachment just won't cut it, not to mention the fact it just won't happen.
Just my opinion.
Postscript: the demands for resignation should include an immediate evacution of Americans from Iraq. Let them fight it out among themselves, but bring our soldiers home where they belong. They should have never been sent there to begin with.
We demand Bush and Cheney resign Now. We cannot wait until the election. We need both of them out Now. Evacuate Iraq Now.

So we don't have to spring for airfare/busfare/trainfare and a DC hotel room?
I think this is a great idea. I think lots of people want to go "on the record" as having opposed the madness of King George - even if the House is too loyal to go thru with an impeachment.

I would go to DC and protest right there on the mall until our demands were met. I guess I have so much admiration for Sadr (no, I don't think killing is a good thing), but could you see the American public push back the US Marines like Sadr and followers have done?

Think about it... the media reports on our activities. What is stronger:
1. A group of orgs named X and Y and Z are asking for _______.
VS
2. The PEOPLE of the United States of America have had enough; they demand __________
Remember the press conf this week when Scott McClelland was trying to explain (Monday?) what the uprising was. He kept saying, "an individual", "one individual", "one man".... And bush and the rest of the cabal have been trying to minimize the action by pigeon holing them as "a group". Well screw that. We KNOW it is the Iraqi people who are saying NO to this occupation. It's the people. If it were just a disgruntled GROUP, do you think the entire world would be telling the USA to cool it? No way....
The PEOPLE.........we the people.

We are protesting to run a thug terrorist out of town. This is not just about Iraq. It is not just about 9/11. It is about the entire corrupt fascist, earth-raping, misery-creating cabal. In my humble opinion.
Besides, it isn't like we have any national guard left in this country to come run us off! Why is that? Oh... they are occupiers (which is not their job).
The soils of this country are so incredibly vulnerable right now. Not just from 'terrorists', but from any disaster or national emergency.
Oh, don't get me started!
Nice sentiments about 'supporting the troops,' but by NOT taking action now, we will have abandoned them. They have a madman as a commander in chief. And if it takes them 'well after the action' to get a clue, then it does.
