Creepy Newtie quote from Nov 26, 2001 New Yorker
In a broader, even scarier and more prescient context, Newt tells a New Yorker reporter, "I think there's a section of the State Department that will once a day come up with a genuinely bad idea, and I think the strength of this Administration so far is that those ideas seem to die somewhere around the national security office."

As we now know, many other ideas seem to have died with the NSA as well.

My wife is going through some old New Yorkers before she gives them away, and has found some fascinating stuff in the immediate post-9/11 issues.
