CSPAN Monday AM — Patriot Act discussion |
|
Former attorney general and man from ACLU
Interesting discussion. I guess if you're not a terrorist, you have nothing to worry about.

1. Unfortunately too many people believe that The PATRIOT Act does not |
|
affect them. They have no issue with the government monitoring what they read, how much money they have in the bank, where and how they spend their money, their medical records, etc.
On the contrary, they like the idea of their NEIGHBOR being watched as if that surveillance will keep them safe.

4. I've noticed a number of times |
|
on these point-counterpoint discussions that the person representing the Bush administration always is quite nervous in putting forth their spin, while the other person is quite composed.
I guess it's hard to spin when you're in the hot seat.
What's interesting today is that the Bush supporters sound like brainwashed idiots while the other callers sound much more intelligent. I wonder if the wingers would be so willing to turn over their rights if Clinton was in charge.
My theory is that they've held back in using it to the extent they want until they get re-authorization. Then, watch out.
