It's like the peter principle. I've always felt that his stupidity was a strategy. But I think he has crossed the line. I think he's beyond the point where the strategies he has used before (the down-home'isms, and the stammering, and the meanderings) are helpful.

Now they are totally inappropriate and they're failing him.

They might be costing him the election.
