Do you personally know any neo-conservatives? |
|
We hear a lot about "neo-cons" in the media, but it seems like they are all elites in the Beltway, the universities and the think tanks. Does anybody here actually know any neo-cons personally? Do neo-cons actually exist in the ranks of the grass-roots of America?

1. They do not exist in the grass roots....., |
|
unless you want to include some of the more pedestrian members of AIPAC or JINSA (both organizations support neocon goals, and count among their memberships, most of the PNAC and Bush cabal neocons).

She's very nice, has great hair, but she defends Bush to the hilt no matter what. It's disgusting how much love she has for that man! But I think she is generally an all-around great gal. We all have our faults right? I'm working on changing her, slowly but surely.

4. a couple yes....but thats not where the support comes from for them |
|
it is from the fox news watching masses who lockstep along with the crowd.
I know a couple but only because I am in an MBA program - lots of conservatives of every type....most feeling embarressed and reluctant to talk politics right now with the main arguement from them being - "yeah but would kerry really be any better? might as well stick with experience" to which I scream -you have to be kidding???

I love how this guy has to trip over his own integrity to defend the bastard.

I know a genuine, PNAC-agreeing-with, Commentary-reading, Grover-Norquist-and-Leo-Strauss-knowing-about neocon. We're friends, actually, and the scary part is that the arguments he gives for stuff are actually harder to argue with than the junk they give the masses through talk radio and Fox News and what-not. I'd go further into it, but I've already been accused of being a stealth FReeper twice today and despite the fact that I still disagree with the guy, repeating anything he says may be construed as supporting it.
Not that I'm bitter...

I know several and the biggest shock came to me last Friday Night. “AL” is a redneck, suggests he lives for Christ, and has very racist and homophobic views. He is also a right-wing nut and a couple months ago he was very upset with those who opposed the war.
Well, last Friday Night I saw him again and he starting BITCHING about BUSH. He doesn’t know my view on it, because I just don’t bring it up, but he went into an anti-Bush tirade.
Other Republicans I am meeting are not quite as “cavalier” with their “Conservatism” anymore. They aren’t Liberal and still aren’t saying anything nice about us, but their cheerleading has really stopped.
Why is this good? Because if the rank and file wingnuts are having “problems” or “reservations” about Bush, then what in the hell do you think the swing voters, the moderates are thinking these days?
I judge the election chances of Kerry based on how my mom, step dad, several friends are acting about Bush. Chances are they will get revitalized for King Chimp in time, but the longer this “disillusionment” with Bush continues the better chances Kerry has. I don’t care what the polls are saying, what Hannity is saying…if the wing-nuts are not happy in Central Virginia then they aren’t happy any damn where.

8. My mother knew David Frum's mother |
|
Both women were childhood friends in Nova Scotia. My mother mentioned how shocked she was to learn about David Frum and his current stance, given his mother's sweet and warm persona.

9. Oh for godsakes, we all have to work for them. |

They control the money. No they don't deal with the working class socially. It is unusual to me that they are starting to infiltrate grassroots organizations like the Sierra Club. Perhaps real democracy is becoming a threat to them.

11. Better question: do you know any true conservatives? |
|
I only know neo-cons. Lifelong neo-cons. The leadership is just catching up to the rank and file rabble.

One is an immigrant from eastern europe who is convinced that Reagan saved him.
Another is a long haired computer guy who bleeds right wing politics left and right. He is the epitome of sheep. He only knows how to quote from newsmax or townhall. All the networks are biased and untrustworthy. I caught him in a lie about Clinton not testifying to the 9/11 commission and he changed his tune to being that he didnt know.
Neither of these guys are rich by any means and I dont see how Pubs would benefit them at all. They are both trying to convince everyone that the election right now is about taxes and that we saved the Iraqis.
