Help! Congressman Mike Oxley (R-Oh) is speaking at my school today... |
|
He's going to answer questions for the student body. I really laid into one of his assistants that talked to us for veterans day...but I plan on ambushing Oxley hardcore because he's not going to expect it from a 17 year old. :)
So, give me some hard-hitting questions I can nail him on...I've got a few like
"Violence has increased in recent months in Iraq, and many more US servicemen and women are dying there daily. Fallujah has become a battle ground, and it's increasingly obvious the Iraqis don't want us there. This, coupled with the fact there were no WMDs in Iraq, I'm curious to know, if you had known this would be the case, would you have stood by your vote for the Iraq war?"
I also plan on asking about his large special interest money intakes, and how he explains that one.
Any other suggestions?

4. Ask him if he has any reservations about Diebold-made voting machines... |
|
After the CEO of Diebold, in Ohio, made the statement that he was "Committed to delivering Ohio's electoral votes to George W. Bush"
And considering Diebold machines have PROVEN to be easily hacked, have been responsible for the same number of votes (18181) in three different elections.
Ask him if he would support a bill that would require voting machine manufacturers to provide machines that produce a paper receipt.

7. Did you read the expose that |
|
the Blade ran of him? He is very corporate friendly. In fact, when a major manufacturer closed in his area (I can't remember the specifics), he told his constituents, "What do you want me to do about it?" He is pretty icky.

8. He'll answer your first question just like Bush did... |
|
We still may find WMD (reports from the Middle East indicate we're trying to plant them in Iraq as we speak...)
How about asking him which George W. Bush does he support, the one that said we'd get Osama dead or alive in the days after 9/11 or the one that didn't care whether or not we found him as it was not important a mere 4 months later?
Ask him who in the White House does he think approved the evacuation of the Saudis and bin Ladens from America in the days after 9/11 when nobody else could fly? If he says "well, those were the good bin Ladens and Saudis..." respond with a follow-up that, "why did the White House not even allow them to get questioned in a secure, undisclosed location when some were known to have terrorist connections and several of the bin Ladens were at Osama's wedding only a few months earlier?"
How about this one - ask him if the Spanish throwing out their president in response to the terror bombing was appeasing terrorists? Then, when he says, "yes", follow up with, "Then, by your logic, was President Bush withdrawing our troops from Saudi Arabia a few months after 9/11 also appeasing the terrorists."

9. www.lunaville.org has more U.S. troops killed this month |
|
than in any other since the start of the war (note I am referring to U.S. troops; I think Nov. '03 has the most total coalition deaths).
Ask him how the nation's leadership will address this trend.
Ask him in what sense the Iraqis are free right now.
Ask him why we are building 14 military bases in Iraq and how long American troops are going to be there.

10. Ask him why, since Ohio has been under Republican rule |
|
on almost all levels since 1994 (Governor, Fed Senators, Fed House, State Senate & State House majority), they haven't been able to come up with a school funding plan (since they managed to get the courts to rule it unconstitutional), and also why Ohio's economy went into the crapper pre-9/11 if the only thing that changed was Bush going into office and the tax cuts happening?
Wave as you're escorted out by security for having a brain.
