THE PRESIDENT'S BRAIN IS MISSING Apr 15 2004

Millions see Dubya fluff question on conflict

By Mark Ellis, Foreign Editor

PRESIDENT George Bush was laid bare to the world as a bumbling embarrassment yesterday when he couldn't think up an answer to a reporter's question.

His keynote address to the American nation, watched by millions, saw the president at his cringe-making worst.

In the glare of the live television cameras he grimaced, sighed, rambled and chuckled under his breath, before saying he could not think of a single mistake since the September 11 attacks...

Politics professor Robert T Starks, called Bush "an abomination to a great nation", after watching his performance on TV in Chicago. The 60-year-old political science professor at Northeastern Illinois University, branded Bush's answers to reporters' questions "vapid, confusing and evasive".

And veteran Washington analyst Stephen Hess, who worked in the Eisenhower and Nixon administrations, said: "It was a strange performance. It was like one of the channels on my old TV set that keeps going in and out of focus. There were moments when I thought he was strong and had a message, and then he would sort of fade out."

1. Trains instead of brains.
My father use to say "When you were born, god asked you if you wanted brains. You thought God said trains and answered 'no, I do not need any'". You think that maybe Shrubby...

6. My pleasure to be here!
I've been bashing the media ever since the mid-term elections when "mainstream" Rush Limbaugh was invited to sit next to Tom Browkaw for their coverage.

7. It was US that allowed this Nut Case in the Oval Office. Our filter
system known as elections failed us. It has holes in it allowing dufuses in there. Now we reap the results of lolo voting. Yes, the world laughs at him and us for allowing it to happen.

This guy is a JOKE. He unites us in Laughter....at him, and the World at us for sucking for his miserable lies.

10. It wasn't the election
Someone wanted George W. Bush to assume the role of the President of the United States.

Those who comprise this "someone" are NOT the people of the United States--not the majority of them, anyway. There is sufficient evidence to conclude that Mr. Bush did NOT win a true majority of the popular vote. It's not that the "elections failed" us; the system was corrupted intentionally by an unprincipled group of people seeking to gain even greater power and influence. These people have done America and themselves a great disservice for which they should be ashamed. They WANTED an air-head president so they could manipulate him. It worked. They got what they wanted from him--greater power and influence and an enormous amount of money.

Now they are getting ready for phase two. I say this because I guarantee you, those who placed George W. Bush in the office of the President of the United States have absolutely no intention of SURRENDERING ANY of the power or influence they gained by positioning him as they have--even if he, himself, is no longer holds that office.

11. Right on all counts. However, in my book, The election process is flawed.
Our system should be sharpened to the point of filtering out dufuses much better. That this Bush is in there now is evidence. How in the world could this be prevented? Let us count/find the ways.

12. Media is a tool of the Corporate Elites
If we has a media that works FOR THE PEOPLE of this country, not for the corporate elite who own it, the fact that Bush is a dufus would have been plain for all to see. A media that took its job of accurately reporting THE TRUTH seriously would have revealed that Bush REALLY IS an idiot long before he got anywhere near the Presidency. He wouldn't have even become the governor of Texas.

But to change THAT situation requires changing the whole structure of American capitalism, IMO. In other words, it isn't only about changing the "electoral system" as you're saying. It goes much deeper than that.

8. this is the coverage we should have seen here
Somebody's got the nerve to tell the truth. Now will the media in the States get a grip and tell it like it is?

14. Wow, thanks for this!
What a fabulous article, and right-on. I wonder when the poisoned apple is going to be jolted out of the throats of the media in this country. Anybody who praised that 'performance' by chimp is brain-dead.
