Sickest Freeper Post I've seen (Praising God for giving Porn Stars HIV)

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Filming in California's multi-billion-dollar porn industry has been frozen after a popular actor tested positive for the virus that causes AIDS.

Porn actor Darren James tested positive for HIV this week in screening conducted routinely on the industry's 1,200 regular actors.

Industry advocates immediately called for a 60-day moratorium on filming so that others could be tested.

The Los Angeles-based industry normally completes three to four adult films a day.

It must now wait to see if the deadly virus has spread to 14 actresses who had onscreen sex with James, or to the 35 sex partners the women subsequently had.

That stuff was started in the eighties by Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson on the 700 club. They used to call it "grids" back then, and they would actually have prayer sessions on TV thanking the lord for "punishing the sodomites". Later it was Limbaugh who would read off names of homosexual men who had just died of AIDS, followed by a laugh track after the mention of every name.

This was all WAYYYYYY before the freepers.

if hate speech isn't protected for some groups (as I understand it they are trying to get at Aryan Nations this way) then why should it be protected for Free Republic?
I don't usually argue for restrictions on civil liberties, especially freedom of speech. But freedom of speech shouldn't include incitement to violence, which a celebratory posting on someone catching a fatal disease ultimately is.

those works are about social action. I would even say Mein Kampf should be protected, as repulsive as it is. The Jolly roger Cookbook, on the other hand, which has instructions on how to build bombs side-by-side with blatantly racist hate speech, I think can be said to be hate speech. although I will grant you that this isn't as clearcut as a lot of people make it out to be, and I certainly understand someone's desire to protect everything to ensurre that no one loses their rights. I usually feel that way myself. I just think that Free Republic is becoming such a hate monger site that it's threatening liberty instead of being protected by it.
It's like the difference between free speech and yelling "fire" in a theater.

Actions taken as a result of hate speech are what should be worried about, not the speech.

Once you get on the road of limiting speech, it's a quick slippery slope.

Who defines "social action"? or the unstated in that phrase -- "redeeming" social action. Hate speech is about social action also, the only difference is you don't agree with it.

If you usually feel like protecting speech, but you don't now, I think you should take a long hard look at yourself before you subtly begin to turn into the thing you once despised.

on the other subject --

If I actively personally threatened somebody's life; that obviously crosses a line. I don't have my case law handy, but I bet the argument is that it goes beyond speech at that point, into assault.
The assault is criminalized, not the speech. This is probably the justification for libel laws.

A description of a sexual relationship with a minor would fall under the rubric of personal criminal activity and probably also under the rubric of obscenity which can be prosecuted.

Time for a new 'special interest' group for the 'RATs. They can now assure 'protection' for these AIDS carriers, as they did for the homosexual community, and start up another
