Twenty-Six Bands Take On George W. Bush and Right-Wing Punks
Edited on Mon Apr-19-04 10:31 AM by rocknation

The November United States presidential election is going to be so important this year, even the independent hard rock scene is taking sides...On April 20...NOFX frontman/bassist and Fat Wreck Chords Records founder Michael "Fat Mike" Burkett...is releasing the compilation album Rock Against Bush Vol. I.

"...(E)veryone is coming together in the name of good ol' fashioned punk rock unity and speaking out against the buffoon that runs our country," explains Fat Mike...Aside from NOFX, twenty-five bands, including Ministry, Sum 41, The Offspring, Anti-Flag, Social Distortion, Jello Biafra, and Pennywise contributed...(W)ith titles like No W, Moron, Baghdad, Sink Florida Sink, God Save The USA, and The Brightest Bulb Has Gone Out, they're as serious as...depleted uranium sickness about this issue...

But that's not to say that Bush isn't without supporters in the punk community...the http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/21/fashion/21PUNK.html?ex=1082520000&en=c4d98e98cc954283&ei=5070">New York Times ran an article about Nick Rizzuto, founder of the Conservative Punk web site...One ally is former Misfits frontman Michale Graves, who...(says), "I think George Bush is a wonderful, competent leader...and he understands the true nature of evil." There's also an Anti-Anti-Flag web site, to which Anti-Flag guitarist Justin Sane responds, "...I don't believe the right-wing belongs in punk rock..."

4. As if I didn't already despise Michale Graves....
...for those awful NewShits albums, I hate the whiny little bastard even more now. Right wing punk makes about as much sense as "African Americans for the KKK". :puke:

6. There've been "right-wing punks" for years: Nazi skinheads.
Those were the only ones I've ever seen. It makes sense that nihilists could go over to fascism. A lot of the SA in Germany were "right-wing punks" as well.
