let's see if they publish this one. they haven't published one of mine since last year. :grr:
Around this time last year, I wrote a letter to your paper, expressing my opposition to the invasion of Iraq. My opposition to this invasion was a based upon the facts that Iraq had no ties to Al Qaeda and that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. As a result, in later letters to the editor, I was reviled as "unpatriotic" and "un-American," and also was called a traitor because I dared to exercise a Constitutionally-protected right to speak out against the President's policies. Deep in my soul, I knew I was right then, and now a year and over 700 dead American men and women later, people are finally waking up and paying attention to the truth that was always there.
The majority of the evidence regarding the events of 9-11 and Al Qaeda leads to Saudi Arabia, yet none leads to Iraq. Most of the hijackers, as well as Osama bin Laden himself, were Saudis. None were from Iraq. Much of the money used to fund Al Qaeda and its activities comes from Saudi Arabia, not Iraq. Finally, while all other non-military aircraft were grounded for days after the tragic events of 9-11, the Bush Administration allowed a plane loaded with members of the Bin Laden family to secretly leave the country BEFORE the F.B.I. could question them about what they knew.
Our President flat out lied to us about the reasons for invading Iraq. Now it appears that he himself provided top secret information to the ambassador of Saudi Arabia, a country that has real, proven ties to Al Qaeda, in exchange for a promise to lower the cost of oil to prime our economy so that he could win re-election in November.
These actions by President Bush prove that he is disloyal and traitorous not only to the Office of the President, but to this country as a whole. Most specifically, he has been disloyal and traitorous to the men and women he ordered into to fight this war for him. He further has violated the Oath of Office, to preserve, protect, and defend this country against ALL enemies by providing information to a country, which has been shown to support terrorism and therefore should be considered our enemy!
If we impeached a president for lying about sex, we can demand no less a fate for a president who sells this country down river, all for the sake of making a few bucks for his oil buddies and winning the 2004 Presidential election. President Bush is a traitor and should be impeached. :grr:
