Out Of Respect? Greive together |
|
This administration says they don't want pictures of coffins returning to the US shown to the public - out of respect for the fallen soldier's families. I think someone needs to ASK the families how they feel about it!!!!! How can viewing a flag draped coffin, and grieving WITH the families of fallen soldiers be considered inconsiderate or disrespectful?

1. we'll all be grieving together soon enough |

it's an obscene form of censorship/propaganda. showing only the glorious victories of the fighting men, no dead or crippled soldiers unless they are the 'enemy'. they fear the dreaded viet nam syndrome for lack of a better explanation. during that era, when they finally started showing the battles and the dead on t.v. during the evening meal, the whole nation's mood about war changed.
this cheap trick won't last long

And they keep on throwing out the "privacy" issue, when it's not as though those coffins were labeled in bold print,-names, ranks, and serial numbers.
They want the dead to be invisible. Meanwhile the rest of the world sees graphic morbid shots of dead little kids in Falluja but oh yeah, I forgot. "They hate us for our freedom."

From what I've read so far , They would like the entire nation to pay their last respects and honor the sacrafice made by their sons/daughters husbands/wives, moms/dads .
They also said they felt as sense of relief to see just how respectful their loved ones remains are being treated . They care and solom ceremonial honor paid to the fallen needs to be seen IMHO.
Making them invisible doesn't honor Their Sacrafice and I believe this is a huge mistake by whomever decided hiding them was a good idea .
It is pretty obvious that it is politically motivated .

4. Been going on since 1st gulf war . . . cheney |
|
was the one who decided this before the first gulf war.
My daughter's boyfriend was KIA 1/29/91 and she and his family had thoughts about going to Dover to meet the coffin and the marines said no, that the pentagon (it was cheney's decision) said that there were to be no ceremonies at Dover anymore.
Those asses wouldn't even allow the families to be there much less the press see the coffins arriving!

5. hitler used dead soldiers as props and idols |
|
he forced images of returning dead on germany, and made a cult out of the fallen nazi heroes. think of the nationalistic fervor that could be produced by actually SHOWING the returning dead! and have the president actually attend EVERY funeral of a dead hero!....but no, they are really so ashamed of the fact that they died in vain, and for no other cause than profit for the already obscenely wealthy

Not even allowing families to greet the bodies? Of all the grim things I've read today, this hits me hardest. How fucking wicked of them, to go to such lengths to hide the human cost of their wars.

7. Yeah, families couldn't go then, and I don't think they can now |

I know dubya is a spoiled frat boy, but I just don't understand how this cheney guy gets everything he wants! It is HIS way or NO way.
I never wanted anyone else to feel what I felt back in 1991 when were heard the news! I ache each and every morning when I hear how many more have been killed and/or injured. I know the families must go thru even worse pain.
