Was it Bush's idea or Cheney's idea that they testify together? Actually I don't think testify is the right word, but they are trying to give the impression they are cooperating with trying to find the truth.
What happens if Bush gets a phone call in the middle of his "testimony"? Does the press then report that the Commission is taking him away from defending the country? Would they be so manipulative? ...Uh....yes.

1. You're right, "testify" wouldn't be the right word |

"Answer questions" wouldn't be right, either, since they won't be doing that. How about "talking to the commission?" No, I'm not sure I could guarantee that, either, since Bush doesn't speak with his own voice. Wait, I've got it: LYING THEIR MISERABLE ASSES OFF. That's the verbal phrase I'm looking for.
It's a total waste of time unless they are sworn in and unless they present themselves before the citizens of the United States of America. It wouldn't stop them from LYING THEIR MISERABLE ASSES OFF, but at least we could hold them legally accountable, just as Clinton was held accountable. Speaking of Clinton, why was I allowed to know every detail about a consensual sexual encounter, but I'm not allowed to know why the F-16s didn't do their jobs on 9-11? Huh? Answer me that, Bush-Cheney!
