Just saw Manchurian Candidate..... |
|
I was surprised Tina Sinatra was the producer of the film. I was not surprised with the way the elite media in the movie reflexes exactly how today, the elite media is behind the destruction of democracy. I felt sad. The media is something out of our control, no matter how much we say the airwaves belong to the people. The White House don't even belong to the people. If you love the Constitution and America, the movie breaks your heart.
I came out believing even more that the rightwing republicans killed, JFK, Bobby, Martin Luther King, JFK Jr., Senator Callahan, Senator Paul Wellston, and even Senator John Heinz, a moderate. Let's see, how many outstanding republicans have died in tragic deaths one right after the other? Zero? The fact that a nitwit like bush and a spook like cheney run our country, and to have rumsfelt run the Pentagon, and the coupe the repigs carried out against Prez Clinton, clearly indicates that these nazi republicans had developed all these take over plans, years and years back. When the media was decentralized, that was one of the main opportunities those nazi's took to turn our country into an elite power controlled nazi nation. They keep repeating God Bless our Country, they are right. God Bless their Country.

"I came out believing even more that the rightwing republicans killed, JFK, Bobby, Martin Luther King, JFK Jr., Senator Callahan, Senator Paul Wellston, and even Senator John Heinz, a moderate. "
Why? It's fiction. Based on a novel.

3. Maybe it's fiction.... |
|
but the weapon of today is mind control. The repigs steal the show when it comes to mind control. There were just too many parallels between the movie and the media today.

6. Your assertion that the "repigs" may have killed all the Dems |
|
you mentioned. Did they kill them by mind control?

too. There were so many parallels to today. Halliburtin and the Carlyle Group for example. As much as we saw the parallels though I wonder if it was apparent to those who follow what is going on. Was it just another movie to them or did they get the connections. Not much reaction in the theatre I was at.

4. It was kinda boring in the first half to me. |
|
The news reports on TV and the radio, the campaign slogans and the security in the cities were what I paid the most attention to in the movie because of the parallels to today.
I think most people who go see the movie will see the parallels.

I thought Washington, Streep, and Shrieber (did I spell that right?) did wonderful acting jobs. Especially Streep. It was suspenseful. I really enjoyed it. I never saw the original (I know, spank, spank) so I can't compare it to that.
I did think that there was a strong parallel between Manchurian Global and Halliburton... especially that Manchurian Global was using private contractors in the Middle East, private armies, and was under investigation for price gouging. Haha.
I also liked Al Franken's cameo.
I heard that the original came out right before JFK was assassinated and they pulled it from all the screens after he was assassinated (for poor taste, I assume)? Is that true?

14. Plame indictments thread |
|
here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2123068Up to thread #15 now. Over 3000 posts. Putting together real reason for Plame being outed: Cheney WMD trafficking. Pakistan is a big player in all this, but Bush doesn't want to look at them. Look for Waterman Paper that was on home page here about a week ago. Lays it all out.

15. What do the Plame indictment threads have to do |
|
with the movie, The Manchurian Candidate produced by Nancy Sinatra and directed by Demme? Starring Denzel and Meryl.
Please, if you have it in your heart and mind, try to make sense.

first of all, I was just posting a link to the Plame threads mentioned by Schraby, above, in case you wanted to take a look.
Schraby, Pallas180, H2OMan and others have done an extraordinary job over the course of several weeks and 15+ threads of pulling together a coherent picture of, among other things, the global trafficking in WMD components. It's like a giant octopus with tentacles everywhere, including, possibly, the WH i.e. Cheney/Halliburton.
I haven't yet seen this version of the movie, although I did see the original too many years ago to remember much. Seems like, from what I read here, that the fictional Manchurian Global has parallels with Halliburton. Instructive, I would think.

13. I'm not going to see the new one. Couldn't compare to the original movie. |
|
Angela Landsbury was the lead, the mother of the lead guy, Lawrence Harvey. It was an outstanding movie. Frank Sinatra was in it, I believe. I only remember bits and pieces of it, and my reaction.

I've seen the original and loved that too. They are very different films. I think Demme (director) and cast did a wonderful job. Meryl Streep was especially good, since that role in the original movie was Angela Lansbury's best role ever. Streep is just as creepy.
I think there are a lot of parallels to what is happening in our world right now, which is why this movie does work as a thriller. It's supposed to make you uncomfortable with the back room deals in Congress and corporate control of our media and politicians. If you think it's disturbing to think about the parallels to Haliburton and the Carlyle Group today. Just think about the fact that the original film was made before President Kennedy was assassinated. Think how people who had strong feelings about that film in 1962, then had to deal with something real and ugly like the Kennedy assassination in 1963. Now that's too creepy to think about.
