We need to take a page from the r's book and target symbolic seats. I say Frist. I say we garner our resources and go after the cat killer.

Assuming Frist retires as he said he would, we should have an excellent chance to pick up that race.

I think we should take it to the repugs on their own turf, make them play defense and walk away with our states! I will make it my mission to help defeat DeWine in OH, does anyone think we have anyone better than Fingerhunt to run against him? Possibly Springer?

will likely run for Governor that year. An open seat in Texas may be tough, but there's now some good Democratic Representatives ousted by Delay's redistricting.
If he runs, Trent Lott MUST be targeted.

Not sure whether Sarbanes will run again. Pipkin would of course love to run again. MD will have a gubernatorial election as well. It'll be a fight as we try to rid ourselves of Erlich the rethug. So I would expect decent turnouts on both sides.

|
CT has a Gov Election in 2006 aswell.
so We probaly have someone good to run for both CT's gov seat and the sen seat instead of Liberman.
Snowe and Chafee Both should not be targeted but Helped both vote alot more democratic then repuke anyways and Chafee with face a challenge from his right.

Anything with Republican allegiance that can be trounced must be trounced: the northeastern and middle-western Republican in national office must be made extinct as the southern Democrat; those who will not switch parties must be driven from office. There is no other choice. It is the conservatives who offend, but it is the moderates who must pay.

15. The Senate is important... |
|
but we shouldn't forget one state-level political office that has screwed up Democratic Party's chances in the last two national election: secretaries of state. Looking back, it seems that a key part of the Republican strategy in their match toward total political domination of this country has been to have their people in control of the ballot process. Wasn't it Stalin who said that it is not who votes that counts but who counts the votes? I'll be interested to know the party identification of the secretaries of state in those key states that Bush won or Kerry almost lost.

I used to ignore the gubernatorial races, not interested, not at all. WRONG ANSWER! In terms of national elections, having a Democratic governor in swing states is CRITICAL. Critical, can't say it enough times - we've learned our lesson. Had Ohio been under a Democratic governor and Secretary of State, John Kerry would be president today and forming his cabinet right this moment.
I understand that Blackwell intends to run for governor. I CAN'T WAIT. I will dedicate my life to making sure HE IS DEFEATED. If he weren't so needed in the House, I'd say to Dennis Kucinich: RUN, DENNIS, RUN!

We need to target Pennsylvania and get Santorum out. That's job one. Next we should aim for pick-ups in Ohio, Missouri, Nevada, and Maine. Finally, we need to focus on switching Chafee to our side. We may not take all of these, but if we can make our goal to hang onto what we have, and pick up two or three seats, then we can position ourselves well for 2008. We shouldn't be afraid to target swing/red states, since there won't be a Presidential election this time. That's just my two cents.

I would dearly love to see Santorum booted, even by a strong repub primary challenger -- it would be nice to see the supposed repub civil war. Any PA people know if Beastial Dick is weak?
