14. I want our next candidate to campaign in EVERY state
Even Utah and Wyoming. At least make an appearance. It won't cost anymore than flying back and forth to the same 3 battlegrounds. It's no wonder we don't get more votes when we just basically say screw you to most of the country and let them get their info from Faux News.

26. That is EXACTLY right!
Saying "fuck the south" early on was a BRILLIANT strategy. Then we sit here wondering why they voted against us. Unbelievable!

5. Voted for "values" instead of their own "interest"
I can't believe people without jobs, people with proverty level incomes, people with no health insurance, people with no retirement savings, etc. etc. vote for a "value".

They wouldn't have an abortion, which is their choice, but they want to deny it to others, which doesn't affect them in any way, shape or form. They wouldn't be be affected in any way by gay / lesbian rights, yet they vote to deny it to others.

Yet they won't vote for their own "interests", which may help them with health care, with a decent paying job, with something to look forward to in retirement, with a cleaner earth for their grandchildren, etc. etc.!

What has happened to these people??

I wanted so badly to cry with happiness, instead I cry for this nation!

15. It's not the red states that are stupid.
It's the stupid people who make those states red. Who's keeping them stupid? The same people who want those states red.

...as did my husband over interests. He works in the pharmaceutical industry and we are fairly well off. Not sure I would do it again, this hurts too much.

11. The majority didn't vote for all those things.
They are just too lazy and complacent to realize it. Fear won them over and most of them have no idea what they got themselves and us into.

13. Wrong, NSMA
Bush got the majority of the vote,
but the vote was not representative of the Majority of Americans.

Language is Important, You have drilled that into my head.

23. I agree with Buddhamama, NSMA..
If we believe that the majority of Americans have drunk the koolade, then what's the point of going on? I think that a large percentage of idiot-Americans DID vote for the reasons on your OP, but there were other reasons too. "Terror", "The War on Terror", financial self-interest (another fear factor) all played a part too. They add UP to a majority this time, but the core of the American apple isn't rotten. It feels like it today, and I won't give you the "buck up" platitudes (yet! ;-) ), but truth, justice, and the American way will prevail!!!

16. The American people are stupid and deserve what they get
except those of us who saw through the lies and voted for Kerry. Unfortunately, we'll have to suffer along with them. When things go from bad to worse, they'll have no one to blame but themselves. Sorry, Clinton is way our of reach now. Nope, it's all on you and your idiot king.

19. Help. I need your opinion
I live in NC where the cities are liberal and counties are conservative. Poor blacks and poor whites are left behind in education. Is it possible, that Dems registered many new voters in places like here, all over the country, and those people were too uneducated to understand how to vote???? I spoke to many 1st timers who were VERY CONFUSED about not only the process but who they should vote for. They understood democratic...but if you vote straight Dem you still have to Vote for prez. Did they vote for Shrub because they don't even know who Kerry is?? Did they "Vote for The President" instead of the Candidate? I think that may be where all the votes went. Your opinions PLEEEEEZE

20. Shit
that's the short list.

The rape of the environment.
Institutionalized homophobia on a massive scale
Faith-based, rather than information-based public policy
Intrusive police searches and the wholesale abrogation of the Fourth and Fifth amendments
Endless fearmongering
Complete secrecy in government operations
A president who lacks two functioning brain cells to rub together.
aggressive imperialism
funding oil wars
charte blanque for the wealthy

You'll forgive me if I'm just a tad unoptomistic!!

:):):) WE ARE FUCKED :):):)

24. they voted for murder
They willfully ignored the fact that these people purposely lied for this war. He should have been impeached. He should have been held accountable. The American people just voted that they don't care how many people are killed as long as they can listen to Rush Limbaugh and pretend they are morally superior to liberals.

25. NSMA, please read this:
President Bush and the Republicans now control the entire national government, even more surely now than they have over the last four years. They do so on the basis of garnering the votes of 51% or 52% of the population. But they will use that power as though there were no opposition at all. That needs to be countered.

Leave today for disappointment. Tomorrow, think over which of these various groups and organizations you think has made the best start toward what I've described above, go to their website, and give money or volunteer. After that, okay sure, take a few more days for disappointment, maybe a few more weeks. But this takes time. And you shouldn't lose heart. The same division in the country remains, the same stalemate. The other side just got the the ball a yard or two into our side of the field rather than the reverse. And we have to deal with the serious consequences of that. Tomorrow's the day to start.
