I went to CNN's site once and I saw the map...and it seems like some sort of BS play around electoral map like we had earlier (like the LA Times electoral calculator). It's like one of those projection sites right?

Nope, it's actually real. It's still not really processing.

2. Numbed out. Husband refuses to talk to me about it...
...says he's trying to save his sanity, and I can't rally blame him. We watched about 5 minutes of the "press conference" and both gagged. He called Bush a psychopath.

Anyhow, I am just kind of numb, like you. Jon Stewart is the only news anchor who makes any sense to me right now, and as he likes to point out frequently he runs a fake news show.

3. It seems the only thing I can do is pet the dog
Or surf this aggravating site. I am depressed. In a Salon.com article two weeks ago, Ron Suskind predicted that he would annihilate us by mobilizing the religious right.

16. I didn't sleep for over 36 hours!!!!! I started to hallucinate, REALLY.
I tried to go to bed and sleep, kept getting up because of rage. Finally got some sleep late on wednesday.

I experienced a small bit of depression with tears when I read a couple compassionate posts from FOREIGNERS...

I've been numb, but manic and enraged mostly. I'm exhausted.

I've been writing and posting and reading and surfing and geeeeez...I need a serious pill to knock me out. I need rest so I can find a significant way to fight back, as I intend to do. Damn straight.

Best wishes DU friends.....:loveya:

18. I know just how you feel.
I was up from 3am Tuesday morning until 2pm Wednesday. The only way I could sleep then was to be medicated. I cannot remember crying so much in my life. Now I am getting really mad & ready to get back to work.

5. I'm past that --
I am now in the cynical and

It is not my problem stage.

There was an earlier thread on this --

When an idiot who voted for bush complains about absolutely anything -- just respond: "It's not my problem".

So their kid is being sent to Iraq -- It's not my problem.

Veteran's benefits cut, hospitals closed -- It's not my problem.

The company is no longer offering health care -- It's not my problem.

They lost their job -- It's not my problem.

The water has toxic chemicals -- It's not my problem.

The air is too polluted to breath -- their kid has asthma from poor air quality -- It's not my problem.

I don't think I went through the numb stage -- I went from disbelief to anger to cynicism or "It's not my problem."

I pop back into the anger phase frequently -- I pity anyone who might call and gloat. I warned my husband that he had better tell his GOPig relatives NEVER to call me or they will be very sorry. I don't care what their reason is -- never to call. I also offered the opinion that his cousin should offer his grandson as a sacrifice on bush's alter.

10. yup, happened today
it drove home the point for me that people who vote republican really are selfish assholes who are in complete denial. And here's another thing - he called me because he knows I care about the soldiers in Iraq - I've sent many care packages. NONE OF US REPUBLICAN FRIENDS DO THIS.

15. I was thinking of running a thread about it later
the call was very upsetting - you want to be compassionate - and of course, ultimately I was, but the whole time I was shaking my head wondering WHY WHY WHY are people SO F***ING STUPID?????????

8. Sick, numb and depressed
However, we're figuring out what we can do. The consensus in our house is that we're giving electoral politics a pass for a while. We're going to act locally a lot more, giving our time to our local progressive coalition and working on issue oriented activism. And we are going to resist. We are going to join with our gay friends in any way possible to resist this new witch hunt against them. We will not give an inch in the culture wars and we will win them.

We will endeavor to support progressive economic issues and bring them to the forefront in a defined way that anyone can understand, even if you don't read the newspaper and prefer words of one syllable and short sentences.

11. Your approach sounds very sensible...I'm going to do that too.
Though I AM quite angry still; may have several more things to come in here for and letters to write before I come down to earth.

19. Still shocked, but no longer in denial.
I was depressed bigtime in the hours after OH was awarded to demented man and was ready to throw in the towel. Now that some evidence of fraWd (thanks to the brilliant DUer who came up with this one!) is surfacing, the fire is back and I will not take this lying down. Screw that. I'm on the media's ass today in a major way.

I have made some changes to help get me through this though. No more cable news. Period. With the exception of the fake news. Thank God for Jon Stewart. I refuse to even watch Keith Olbermann because his shows happens to be on the wrong network. I refuse to allow psycho shrub to appear on my television. As another poster said, "He is dead to me."

I've also decided to no longer participate in polling - phone or Internet. Fuck the pollsters. The media gives them too much credit. If Democrats refused to participate in polls, the media and the candidates would have no idea what we were thinking. I believe part of the problem going into this is that rove knew the chimp was cooked in OH, which allowed them to fix it. If people refused to participate in polls, which is something Arianna Huffington has been advocating for years, the candidates might be forced to run on principles rather than public opinion.

I will never stop fighting and the sick little man in the White House will silence me only through death.

I hope to God there is a coordinated protest in the works for January 20th, because I'm so ready to show the spawn of Satan what I think of him.
