The sun came up this morning.
Baldwin County, Alabama is heavily Repub. The vote went about 75-25. As you might imagine, most of our friends are conservatives. They are mostly seniors, with various levels of college degrees and very successful careers behind them. Now I look at these "intelligent" people and think "How could you?". I just don't get it. They are not bible-thumping right-wing fundies, just long time Republicans.

My best friend I thought I was bringing along, bit by bit. He really didn't like Bush or most of his policies, but told me he just didn't think he could bring himself to vote for a liberal. The right has been very successful in demonizing that word, but you already knew that. I told him that maybe he could just stay home then. That would have helped a little.

He was unexpectedly called out of the country a few days before the election. Last night he told me he went to the U.S. embassy where he was to see if he could somehow vote there. He couldn't, but he told me he would have voted for Bush.
I give up.

However...the sun came up again this morning and I suspect it will tomorrow too.
I'm recovering.

1. The sun came up this morning...
That is what my friend's parents told her after Bush won--'Look on the bright side, the sun will rise in the morning'. She is Catholic and the youngest of 7. Her parents are elderly and they HATE Bush. My friend is very worried about their Social Security as she should be. I love that her parents voted for Kerry.

My friend was devastated when I talked to her last night, and she called because she was worried about me! I knew she disliked Bush, but did not realize she felt this strongly. She is probably the most decent person I know, and very strict Catholic, except she doesn't believe in pushing her 'morals' on others. I wish more Christians were like her.

2. The morning sun rises red
casting long dark shadows across the earth.

It is not good. It is as if we are living "The Lord of the Rings" and somehow the Gollum (sp) has won the precious ring.

Up here on the dreary shores of Lake Erie (from the song-"When skies are dreary over Lake Erie." We are preparing for the first of the 'Lake Effect Snow Falls'and the sun rarely shines here at all lately.

I know the 'Lake Effect Snows' are going to be bad because the Community Workers (Taxpayer funded) placed a flag marker on the fire hydrant (Also taxpayer funded) in front of our house. The flag is a good six feet above the ground.

Community: All for one and one for all. Sort of a socialist thing.

When I was a kid living on a cliff overlooking Lake Erie 'Lake Effect Snow' had not yet been invented. We just said "Holy shit! Look at all that snow."

Anyway, good morning Trof. Just running my mouth.
