Barack Obama for minority leader! Stop taking the black vote for granted! |
|
I know most of you would say he's just a freshman but the man has proven his leadership qualities to me already! This is where Karl Rove beats us, talk about Bush appointing the first black attorney general is already out there. They are chipping away at the African American vote, we MUST take a bold move with the minority leader and stop taking the African American vote for granted. Kerry already lost a lot of the African American votes Gore had.

6. Not JUST because of the African American factor... |
|
but also because Obama would be a very strong leader for us. I would want him as Dem leader no matter what race he belongs to.

9. Perhaps we need to come up with a DU concensus... |

...and then ALL petition our Senators for that person. Anyone with me?

he wouldnt take it. i live in illinois, and he's a very humble man. in his political career he's already ruffled too many feather by being super ambitious. sadly, we need to give him some time before he takes up the mantle of leadership

I envision him having a long and illustrious career in the Senate and perhaps the White House!

12. How about dumping Pelosi and electing Harold Ford for House |
|
Minority Leader. Nancy is an aject failure and a terrible communicator. We need to purge (from the leadership ranks) those who have failed us.

Does he represent you in the Illinois Senate?

19. I can't answer your question, but I agree with your gist. |
|
We can't fall for the "cult of personality" anymore. I have a feeling Barack would be awesome too, but we really need to make our choices strategically - not on the basis of feelings.

20. And we can't allow our choices to look like pandering |
|
either.
Also, I guess my gist can be read the way you read it, but if the OP comes back to answer you'll see another "gist".

21. I don't mean to be insulting, but please |
|
use your brains. The Senate is an institution of arcane rules and complex traditions. Mastery of the rules is imperative in being an effective leader. You can't just walk in the door and expect to know how the institution works. It's one reason that Frist hasn't been a particularly good Majority Leader by historical standards. Give Obama time to adjust and look to see him in a leadership position in a few years. Meantime, if it's at all possible, I'd love to see him with a seat on Judiciary.

23. I firmly believe the ONLY reason he won't get it |
|
is that he's brand new in the Senate and in D.C. He has to spend a few years in the boiler room first. But he will rise!!!!
