How long before voter remorse sets in? |
|
How long before the repugs say, O no who did we elect. Once no one can find work? Unemployment at 8%? Oil at Seventy dollars a barrel? Six months? A year?

1. That depends when we "have no choice" but to invade another country. |
|
And the draft comes back to bitchslap the nation. I still say it should prioritize by red/blue polling districts. ;)

that will cause them to doubt their choice. This whole "moral values" thing trumps so much.... the fundies will hunker down with bread and water -- as long as they have their guns and Bibles and them gays ain't runnin' free.... Just my view at the moment.

5. I think that's a bit extreme |
|
I'm confident that some portion of Bush voters gave him his vote for rational reasons--I know this is hard to fathom, but if you look at the 51% Bush got, there's no way all of those could be evangelicals. Many are conservatives or businesspeople who did well by Bush's policies or just agree with laissez-faire economics or love warmongering.
As more chickens come home to roost, we'll see major "Bush fatigue" set in. The cognitive dissonance will be deafening.

it's a matter of degree ... and what benefit they perceive to turning on Bush. There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but I think both of us have valid bits of the puzzle.

6. We need to get better joblessness reporting out there... |
|
We need to have some kind of site that monitors the unemployment numbers and shows the full unemployment rate, including the long-term unemployed. We also need to show a stat of "underemployed" if that's possible.

Their kids are being drafted
We invade yet another country
and the majority of them are out of work
Then you will see a revolt against the adminstration - not before.
Stupid people need top be hit over the head a few times before they realize they're being butt f*ucked.

8. As I've said before... |
|
...they're already broke in the red states, with no jobs besides Wal-Mart and no prospects to go anywhere besides Iraq. And they voted for him anyway.
For such a homophobic bunch, they sure do like to get it good and hard up the ass.

9. I'm not wishing for anything bad to happen (it will anyway)but, |
|
It will be interesting to see $5/gal gasoline, inflation and corresponding interest rate hikes leading to foreclosures and the bottom falling out of the housing market (and I work in realestate and my husband in construction so we will suffer, too)and whatever other consequences are headed our way(some too awful to imagine, I'm afraid) because these disasters will be proof to the American people that they made the wrong choice and there is no way now that Democrats can be blamed. Things have to get much, much worse before they can get better.

14. When it hits them in the pocketbook, when they lose their homes |
|
when they can't afford to drive to work, when they have to give up medical insurance just to buy food, etc. THEN they will have no choice but to face reality. Sure, some are so stupid they still won't get it but a lot of them will ask themselves if it was so DAMN important to prevent same-sex marriage and so FUCKING critical to overturn Roe v Wade that it was worth sacrificing their lifestyle for. These are fat, comfy fuckers who will scream bloody murder when their standard of living declines sharply.
