Did Clinton really throw gays under the bus?
Because I'm not inclined to believe that story

1. Yes, how reliable is that story, really? Can't believe it
until I see incontrovertible proof/reliable sources.

2. Order Dean's book.
It is a quick inspiring read. Very clearly written with a passion for our country. I don't want to post the quote here...Not just Newsweek. Ok?

11. Read the book or find a review at MSNBC or WP.
I am not going to post it here, but yes he pulled this on Dean.

5. Impossible to guess, but he signed DOMA, didn't he?
Kerry and Clinton would have maintained their historical positions on the subject.

6. Clinton Publicly Supported the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996
and gladly signed the bill. It allowed states free reign in defining marriage but forbid the federal government from recognizing same-sex unions.

7. Depends on what year?
He did it in 1993 with Don't Ask/Don't Tell.

He did it in 1996 with DOMA.

So, of course, it is impossible to believe that he would do it in 2004.

8. Look, we don't know the context of anything said....
For all we know, he threw it out there flippantly, or not at all.

10. It could've happened
but all we know was what was in the Advocate. I don't think anyone has posted the Newsweek passage.

18. Well, remember the "crying in your teacups" statement?
"Quit crying in your teacups" about the 2000 election. Kerry said that.

20. I have to say Clinton is a brillian politician. One like him we may
not see again in my lifetime. The truth is, this would have probably worked well for Kerry. As a gay person, he can keep his civil unions, so it would have been apples and apples to me.
