Mechanical, Punch Card, Paper, Optical Scan, Touch Screen with and Touch Screen without .....

What system is the best to ensure validity and confidence?

1. I used mechanical lever machines for years in NY
and never heard a single tabulation issue. Ever.

with serial numbers, so that ballots can't be substituted.

A machine can make the initial tabulation quickly, yet a human being can easily do the recount if necessary.

And the final results are in by midnight, despite the extremely complicated counting (two-votes system).

8. Touch screen producing paper *BALLOTS* would be fine;
I don't really need a receipt.   Then again, I'd be just a happy with a paper ballot and pen, and they're a lot cheaper. :shrug:
