Bush can legally run again in 2008? |
|
Some Freeper type wrote this on another board.
"I heard last night that the Bush administration was rethinking it's position on the 2000 election. Having now been legitimately elected in 2004, they were preparing to announce that they really weren't elected in 2000.
The thinking is, by declaring this their first legitimate term in office, Bush can legally run again in 2008 without violating the prohibition on a 3rd term"

1. I believe that started in the Onion as a joke |
|
Or maybe it was Letterman.
It's obviously bogus shit. The rule is whether you 'served' as president, not whether you were elected.

8. Since he only "serves" 40% of the time, he is still good |
|
for another couple of terms in 2008.

5. If he did it, he should be prosecuted... |
|
As of now the official line is that there was NO vote fraud. Statue of limitations doesn't start to run until the "crime" has been discovered, so Bush & Co. would be liable.
Also could be impeached due to high crime and misdemeanor of hiding felony fraud while in office.

13. it's bullshit- then he'll be declaring his first four years and everything |
|
he did during those years illegitimate.
But if he did decide to run a third term, it might be fun to watch as Bill Clinton runs against him- as he surely would given he has an even better case to make since it wouldn't be consecutive. That would be the mother of all races and Bill would kick his ass back to Crawford so fast Rove's fat bald head would explode.

They are probably going to run another Bush brother like Jeb most likely. I thought nepotism was only practiced in banana republics. :-(

The SCOTUS simply stopped a recount. It effectively appointed him President, but only by way of a technicality. The Freeper (here's a shock) is wrong.

18. He can only serve two terms- unless they amend |
|
the Constitution on yet another issue to suit their evil purposes.
Of course, there is no limit to the number of terms he could serve IN JAIL if we could only get him in there.

an excuse to strike down the Presidential term limits, eh?
