Stop calling them "Red States"
much has been written on DU this past week about showing a greater sensitivity to those wacko fundamentalists who voted for bush ...

and in all fairness, there were plenty of good old fighting democrats in some of those states bush won ...

but overall, you gotta call 'em as you see 'em ... so here's the updated post-election map ...

3. Color Ohio and Florida blue.
'Cause that's how they voted. May as well count Iowa and New Mexico that way too. We'll find out soon enough.

4. Stop calling them "Red States"
Thank you for that. Still needing mood elevators and picture links to send to my young grandson - a rabid and rising Democrat.
Also: my state, NC, is right in there, and I am not sure AT ALL that without fraud we would not be BLUE.

or even more accurately, THIS:

is the nation we live in. Not that stupid red/blue dichotomous piece of garbage.

Musing - is "dichotomous" a word?

16. Now this I like!
I love these maps and really do not like being a "Red Stater". Three reasons it bugs me more than many others, one it implies we are all on the other side, two it seems to be followed by the redneck comments,,,newsflash we are not all red necks , third and finally; the "red" offends me as a person of Native American descent.

Maybe I just hate being here right now? Anyway I like these maps much better, thanks for posting them. I saved them. They should be the official DU maps!!!!!!!!!!!

Be blessed,
RedTail Wolf

and so did parts of the Valley and border areas.... and we fight on from there.
otherwise I send you greetings from the Texas Prefecture of Dumbfuckistan !!
I AM proud of Ausitn, however.
There is an underground resistance in all the other RED states - count on it

12. My precinct voted Blue
Huntsville, Alabama.

My precinct voted Blue. Many people worked very hard for that.

Our county is "purple".

We actually live in a very variegated state. Lots of Blue veins run through this state.

Born and raised here and not the only liberal, thank you very much.

15. well Louisiana, you gotta admit ...
you just don't look bluish ...

all seriousness aside though, i really was careful to add this line to the base post:

"and in all fairness, there were plenty of good old fighting democrats in some of those states bush won ... "

i can't imagine how it feels living among so many misguided souls ...

17. Well, I always tell tourists that the South is NORTH of New Orleans.
We are the Northernmost Caribbean city (we share many features with cities as far South as Salvador, Bahia), but we do get a lot of redneck tourists that come here to drink all day and night and show us their "red state" titties. :puke:

Believe me, New Orleans is deep blue, but once you hit the suburbs you are in David Duke country - Nazi blood red. Do you think we should shut down the port/Mississippi River and stop the flow of trade to the knuckle-draggers?
